Cyborg/AI language question

Post by Central Core » #244905

This is about the secure channel/language that the cyborgs and AI use to communicate. So I am trying to add said channel/language to a race so it can both hear and speak the language but I can't seem to find anything in the code about the language.

Basically I am asking if it is possible to give and what to add to give a race the channel/language.

Thanks for reading and and help given.

Probably acts like a specific frequency, check the binary translation key traitor item, probably has relevant code there.

Also try abductor telepathy code, or xenomorph hivemind (.a), or ling hivemind (.g).

It is definitely possible, see many of Paradise Station's races like Vox. I'd take a look at how they do it - all of those nonhuman races can only be spoken and heard correctly by the specific race.

The code is in living/say.dm. There's special code for changeling and alien speech, if you want to hardcode it, or if you want to you can put it in a tongue like abductors (this will prevent normal speech) or, alternatively, use the new vocal cords, which are an organ that allows you to modify speech when speaking with .x, which makes them handy for special channels. They would be transplantable with surgery, though, so they wouldn't be race-specific. Language is another thing, which has to be set separately, though.

Look at the binary translator key as well.

Cyborg/AI don't really have a language. They have a silicon communication channel.

And before you make a race that can access silicon chat, DON'T.
