That you are actually agreeing with the ban only indicates that you're also emotionally unable to handle being an administrator, if this ban sticks it will just make the admin team look incompetent and petty and unwilling to abide by their own rules, especially given that the game ban doesn't even apply to anything he's done in game.

Day 2, headadmins still haven't come up with anything to communicate publically

we are left with the following options

A) ausops believes it's okay to ban someone for "shitposting" when in reality all they have done is consistently hold opinions that they disagreed with and post those opinions publically on the forum for the game

B) There is some reason that goof is really banned, but they believe it's ethically okay to ban someone with a fake reason, then lie about it until someone pulls them up on their shit and then evade the question with promises of "we'll figure something out later" and then radio silence, oh and also provide not a single shred of proof beyond hearsay.

C) ausops has literally baked in the sun and has gone mental and the headadmins are trying to cover that up.

All of these options are shit

A) indicates that it's now okay to ban people for holding opinions you don't like consistently, and not even for behaviour in game that contradicts the spirit of our rules, which is an incredibly sad precedent to set, at least judge people by their actions, not their words.

B) indicates that you believe the playerbase and administrative teams are untrustworthy, and don't deserve honesty and that's it's ethical to lie to people to their face while removing them, which is honestly sadder than even A, not to mention the idea that we are just going to somehow trust that you believe that these things happened without direct quotations from the people involved.

C) is the best outcome right now please lets pray for a hot australian winter


Hoping for an option D where this all makes sense and where the headadmins don't just believe the players and admin team don't deserve any clarity or that it's ethical to lie to peoples faces about why you're removing them instead of being intellectual honest about it

Lets not even cover how they convienently banned goof from the forum first so they could pretend they didn't have a right of appeal, yeah cause that's totally above board as well.

The reason goof got banned was a rule 0/1, for years and years of shitty behavior. Nearly every time he posts it was in bad faith. He's been arguably so detrimental to the community it made people leave over the years.

There's no reason why someone who posts in bad faith for years and doesn't even play the game should be allowed to shit up the community for no reason other than being an absolute dickhead to people.

People finally stopped listening "but its goof xd lmao" and stopped letting him get away being so utterly detrimental to the community as a whole.

Maybe it was not as fully communicated to other admins at first, but we don't need to make ban reasons public to /anyone/ aside from the affected player.

I think it's worth mentioning that this is harsher treatment than has been given to anyone I can think of for some time by the current model of tgstation governance. The closest example I can recall is errorage's infamous "purge of shit".

He probably wasn't confined to FNR mostly because his forum behavior was one of the major causes. Maybe he should get his one appeal a year but at the same time it's just gonna be a shitfest, maybe he should just be thrown on the blacklist because years of this shit proves he's not gonna change. There's a few people who are banned from the forum entirely iirc. It's simply not worth to keep someone who doesn't play and just tries to make people feel miserable for no reason other than strange gratification for years around.

The question was "why did ausops do it instead of the headmins". Because they couldn't forum ban him. Ausops could. It was discussed with ausops because I already found out it was likely to happen before it did. Ausops did not tell me.
