I just thought about this.
Make this not a plasma planet, make plasma something you have to scavenge in the ship wreckage or in the Necropolis. Suddenly plasma is super scarce, and the station has to make due with minimal amounts of it.

nah it should have gigantic underground plasma gas deposits so you can disrupt them and flood to atmosphere and ruin the planet forever
or syphon them and build atmos canisters over them whichever

That sounds dumb and laggy.

Maybe this should be consolidated into a LORE thread with the continuity etc, I will post LORE soon

"Plasma research facility" was always the most boring piece of LORE in the game. Plasma doesn't even do anything that special other than burning and blowing up.

And it does shit to slimes and it is poisonous but it can be used for medicine and there's a lot of impossible chemistry and it's literally handwavium.

So does blood. And water.
it is poisonous but it can be used for medicine
Oh no, never in the history of medical science has that happened.

It's magical poison.
You can see that it's magical because it's a liquefiable purple crystal that can also turn gaseous.

Point here is actually legit, it's a solid that can be grounded to a liquid that turns into gas if you throw it
