Before every one starts metaing the fuck out of the map

Never because they'll be randomized.

Map meta will depend entirely on multiple factors.
  • Will the map be one giant pre-made map, fully randomly generated like Lavaland, or semi-randomly generated such as using pre-made chunks in random positions.
  • Will item and resource spawns be pre-set or randomly placed
Another factor to take into consideration is the map size.

Currently our maps are about 255 x 255 tiles long, whereas the proposed map size, just for the ground layer, is 1000 x 1000. Being nearly four times the size of our current map, it'll be a lot harder to "meta" the map layout, double so if the map layout is made intentionally complicated and claustrophobic.

Nearly sixteen times, since it's an area, so k is squared.

Me and my very early morning math skills.

Either way, I think the map needs some form of randomisation. I would suggest my chunk idea but I digress.

Yeah we can make a bunch of premade chunks that can fit neatly together in various ways and then get a road generator like how we generate caves to make a few paths. Bam, done.
