Some starting points and reference art for the "zerg-like race"

Post by Luke Cox » #434663

Sticky says that the new race is going to be "zerg inspired" so I decided to engage the autism and channel my many hours in Starcraft 2 into something potentially useful. Here are some assorted zerg units, and the types of xenos they roughly correspond to in aesthetic and/or function. Obviously I'm not suggesting (and would even discourage) that these get ripped for 1:1 like CM's xenomorphs, but these would be great starting points to build off of if a zerg style is your goal. Hope this proves useful to whoever is designing our new xenos.

Good reference points. Tyrannhids are also a good set for inspiration.

We still don't have a cool name for the Bugs though.

If you really want to nail the Zerg aesthetic, you should shoot for a kind of reptile/insect hybrid, with some castes leaning more towards one or another.
