Predator Policy Discussion

Predators are, when unrestricted and free, able to decimate both the Xeno and Human side single-handedly with ease should the person playing the Predator in question have even a shred of competence in them. For the original CM, the Honor Rules kept Predators grounded to prevent a slaughterfest of both sides. The Honor Rules, being pretty high RP, wouldn't fit very well with DMCA's lowRP standard. You can find and read the Honor Rules Predators are bound to here: https://cm-ss13.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=2693

Discuss what could be done with Predators so as to prevent a 30 minute annihilation.

Give them flufftext to seek stronk things to fight, and big red text telling them not to just murder everything on pain of ban?
leibniz wrote:>im ded pls nerf
they're really, really strong if not nerfed or bound by anything
they have infinite invisibility, and an infinite semi-auto stungun that also functions as a slow-firing infinite grenade launcher; they have a self-heal on demand, and their melee weapons are also stronk

They should be special admin antag, spawned when admins see fit.

Overpowered mass murder is a staple of /tg/ gameplay.

Having played CM myself for a few months, along with killing my fair share of predators, they can't do much damage if you gang up on them.
That's pretty much how it works for every antag.

There's going to be a ton of rebalancing and retrofitting of the code, if predators are as overpowered as you say they'll probably be knocked down to about the Space Ninja-ish ball park.

I don't think fun policing how antags play the game is the right way to go.

Preds should just be bound to a somewhat more tame honor code imo

CM' predators are walking tanks with 90%+ reduction armor, admin stimpack vending capabilities and an arsenal of weapons at their disposals. Never have I seen a predator spice up the round, only delay it with their boring dick-waving rituals. When a predator finds itself in the general vicinity of a wadering testosterone singularity, only two outcomes are possible: Either the pack leader(s) is dying of boredom, and thus the space ligger's antics are temporarily tolerated, or the rolling mass of muscle and guns is actually up to something for once, in which case the marines will roleplay "surprise and astonishment" just long enough to form a concave and subsequently open fire, only to be adminbombed for their trouble minutes later.

Is this actually a role worth keeping?

We will not be spawning Predators until the code and honour code both get a rework and are looked at.

so still one of the most stupidly overpowered antags in the game, second only to /tg/ xenos and rivaling the power of wizard?

Fluff text can keep a basic honour system without additional rulesets. If it works for silicons it can work for them.

The more hands off the better, trying to restrict an antag solely with fluff is going to turn out terribly. I don't really see any options that'll make the Predator stay in it's current form on DMCA, while being held to the same standards of RP.
