Ban reason: As a warden, a pie was thrown at them by a third party and missed. They proceeded to shoot their laser gun until depleted, hitting them four times and a passerby once. Player stated that their bad aim quirk was justification to use their lethal weapon, as it would have missed most shots, and blamed the people who got hit in the ticket for walking into the shots. Reaching for lethals in reaction to getting a pie thrown at you is not something that is expected of security, bad aim or not. This ban was escalated to three weeks despite the minor nature of the incident, in light of the player's extensive history of security behavioral issues.

Your side of the story: I have the bad aim quirk. This makes it literally impossible to hit a target who is not standing next to you unless said target runs into the laser, which randomly spreads left or right at a rate where I was also unable to hit the three-tile wide hallway behind the target. I fired warning shots to RP as a dumbass useless bit cop responding to some rabble trying to provoke me, a riot broke out, there was a shitstorm, I died as a result of responding to the adminPMs, and completely lost it. I believe it was targeted harassment. I do somewhat regret eventually devolving into screaming and cussing, although at the time it was unbelievably frustrating that I had literally died as a result of Cimika's extremely circular, bizarrely hyper-fixated questioning.
Why you think you should be unbanned:TL;DR: I was banned for a month for shooting lasers when I am aware that shooting said lasers will not hit the target, not the hallway the target is standing in. The assistants rioting and attacking security are likely not even being warned, noted, or even interacted with by the admins involved.

Just to reiterate, I was unable to hit the three-tile wide metastation security hallway behind the assistant from the warden's kiosk. This is a fact I'm well aware of with the quirk, and did not intend for the assistant to get killed, which he didn't. I am banned for simply firing the laser. I don't expect this to be a clean appeal, or even succeed, but to be entirely frank this ban is a joke and the admin ticket involved was so utterly, predictably toxic I feel like my biggest mistake is returning to this server every time this sort of thing happens.

As we can see, Arturidot tossed a pie at you, which did not hit, which prompted you to discharge your laser gun at them and hit them several times despite your bad aim quirk. You also hit a passerby, Bugstep.

Now as for the ban reason, using lethals in response to getting a pie thrown at you is not proper security behaviour. Having a quirk that botches your aim is not an excuse to do so, nor can you blame the players for getting hit by the lasers in the first place. You shot the lasergun and you are responsible for it.

As stated in the ticket and ban reason, this issue was escalated to a three weeks ban in light of your poor security history, and taking into consideration how you were warned about further misconducts as security.

I will be denying this appeal, and I want to note that you are completely free to play on the servers still, as it is only a roleban.

I don't know how many times to tell you this, but I'm going to try one last time: the laser gun was not, in any way, unless my target is standing directly in front of me (which the assistant eventually did simply so I would should him), one tile away, lethal. It was not lethal intent. If I wanted to kill the assistant for throwing his very obvious pie at me, I would have done so without a gun, because me using a fucking pulse rifle would simply blow a hole in both the AI core and dorms from my kiosk before it would have hit anything in the hallway. As I said in the post, almost every single shot fired missed the hallway the assistant was standing in and it wasn't until he ran into the fire that any of the shots hit him. He wanted to stir the pot, and yes, I certainly took it, but I figured that being utterly ineffectual with literally all ranged weaponry that isn't a shotgun is tit-for-tat with a dumb, shit-stirring pie (that missed, since that's so important). I had no intent to kill the assistant and simply had no way of doing it. If you want to look at the one scenario where I would be able to laser someone to death, look at one of the two greyshits I actually killed: he was standing right next to me, handcuffed, because any further away would result in me unintentionally shooting someone else, and making things worse. I know what I'm doing.

If you need a TL:DR; for the above: I could not kill anything or anyone with bad aim unless they are standing next to me. Look at those logs! I couldn't hit shit!

Secondly, and I cannot stress this enough, I am so tired of hearing about my "security history". In a month I'm going to harmbaton some assistant who screams the N-word at me and starts a riot and I'll be trying to talk down another member of the popularity club from permabanning me and they will be pointing at dumb shit like this where I got absolutely dunked on. An overwhelming majority of bans I've received this year come after I'm dead, gone from the round, while my perceived victims can enjoy the rest of their round, usually after the escalation was entirely two-sided. It's a dumb, self-fulfilling prophecy, and if you actually cared beyond your pre-conceived notions of me, you'd look back even further and see me doing the same shit that you're defending. I'm trying to be better, and to be frank, my biggest fucking fault in my entire playtime of this game is that after shit like this, I keep coming back to a game with shitty players and prejudicial admins just to feel that trickle of dopamine when I get to do something fun with people who are open to the wild emergent gameplay that this game is supposed to encourage.

This is incidental, and wholly unnecessary given your whole bizarre obsession with the statement "the assistant pied me", but, while I was trying to secure the brig from the horde of assistants just fucking everything up, the clown actually did pie me, which resulted in an assistant escaping and the situation getting worse. So, while I'm trying not get banned for another "your security history" concern, securing a brig from an entire hostile faction of assistants with admin backup, and trying to roleplay, I'm perfectly justified in looking at my character and telling you that I got pied.

After thinking on this more, I agree that the ban duration is out of line, even taking into account your last security issue, and I will be lifting the ban and editing the note slightly to better represent the intent I had when placing it.

I still think it's not a good behaviour to have as a security member, even for just a comedy stint, but it was a mistake on my part to apply a ban for it, and I apologize for it. I will be posting the revised note and lifting the ban in just a moment.

The ban has been removed, meaning this is now a note appeal, and as such we're upholding the note. Firing lasers as security in response to a pie being thrown at you as a funny joke is fine until those lasers actually start hitting multiple people, at which point it becomes an escalation issue- traits do not change how responsible you are for your actions. While the initial ban length was too harsh considering what happened, it has been removed entirely already by the banning admin. Admins are also not responsible for you dying in the ticket- someone unbuckling and uncuffing themselves under your watch isn't their fault.
