I'm not against Kor being an admin he's a cool guy but he was trialed for what seems like less than a week. And he had no review thread at all. Hell this wasn't even up until he was a full game admin.

He's talking about my three month trial back in 2011. And no I was not a trial admin this time, I was a candidate for a few rounds.

Hey guys I've been around for a while, can I be candidate for a few rounds and be made into a full admin on the spot?

Less feedback to Kor but I thought you had to first be recommended by a admin, then be a candidate for a while, then put on as a trial admin for even longer, then get reviewed and then become a admin if your doing well. Not going straight to full admin after a few rounds as a admin candidate, which to be frank I would say a lot of people go through as a candidate yet many of them don't go on to being a admin.

Kor's not a regular case.

Trial admin is there to train and vet new admins. Kor is not a new admin. He has the experience and apparently the trust of the headmins, too.

He's a veteran admin so he knows how things work. He used to basically run the servers for several months in lieu of any actual leadership.

There's no point in stuffing everything through tg's bizarre obsession with bureaucracy. If he turns out he's shit he gets deadminned. There's really no difference in whipping a trial or a full admin, unless you want to form a bureaucracy around that, too.

Thank you for explaining the situation. Biggest problem I have with anything is the lack of communication and information.

The few vague interactions I can recall with Kor seemed to go over well, so afaik Kor seems alright, and considering his resume I can't think of a massive negative.

Oh, except for HG's first post in a long time to be a shitpost.

This. Kor's one of, if not THE, most highly regarded admins /tg/station has ever had.

He could probably use some time to acclimate to the new rules and procedures but the whole point in inviting him to be an admin again (I'm guessing, I aint on that bus anymore) is as much for his judgement as his perspective. He's like a time-capsule of the golden era. You don't want to iron that out of him.

If you're stunned that this "stranger" has appeared out of nowhere and been upjumped to a full admin in so little time that's on you. LEARN THE /TG/STATION LORE.

Surely me being able to actually contact HG is the most important and unique quality I bring to adminbus though

I have a feeling it's a silent majority with a loud minority that passive aggressive deleted thread being a prime example.

I support you, You've always been fair with me, even when I've not given you a lot of reason to be (30+ page sec/FNR moderation rants) And I see no reason for people who know the system and how to administrate effectively to go through training wheels, I fucking hate uhangi and pap, but If they ever came back, and the headmins were feeling generous, I wouldn't expect either of them to have to trialmin, even though I'd rather see them turned away, they still don't need training wheels, It's just not for that.

No one has a problem with kor himself being admin. It just sets a different precedent without explanation as to why. Now admins can apparently come and go as they please and that wasn't the case before.

The criticism is in spite of, not because of, you. It's an issue with the process.

Let me uhh, hold on...let me drag this old soap box out. I haven't used this thing in months.

Okay.

Ostensibly nobody here is a robot. Admins have common sense. Some more than others, but all of them at least a little bit. While we have created over time this great labyrinthine system of rules and procedures so that we don't need to employ that common sense as much and just follow the script, the rules and regulations exist to serve us a community and not the other way around.

I don't know why anyone would complain that the rules weren't followed to the letter in this situation when everyone is simultaneously using their common sense to endorse the decision that was arrived at.

I think the issue people have with this is that it sets some kind of precedent so that down the road someone could dredge some random awful admin up from the grave (LIKE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DONT EVER EVER EVER) and point to this and say "Well Kor got made an admin this way!"

We should trust then, like we should trust now, that people will have enough common sense to be able to treat that situation with the bit of thought it would require to resolve. To fret and hem and haw over the sacred procedures means you're either programming some rule-enforcing AI and you're worried how you're going to enter this into its punchcard system, or you genuinely believe some day people will be so blind and lack that common sense to treat situations individually.

Come on guys. You're all better than that.

If you need a rule for it, never forget Rule 0. The implications of which are : None of this shit matters if you just use your common sense.

What makes you think that?

I wasn't on the server but I was present in the adminbus at the time and I remember people having a group huddle around Ceph asking him what the fuck he just did to ruin the server. He explained it to me later.

Then again I've lost my fucking mind so I don't trust my own memory anymore. Maybe I'm thinking of something else or nothing at all.

I asked him. We're both half right.

Ceph found an exploit to print thousands and thousands of bibles.

Kor banned Ceph for a half hour and sprayed the bibles with acid thinking it would get rid of them (INSTEAD OF USING MASS DELETE LOL I STILL LOVE YOU THOUGH BAE).

Ceph's half hour ban ran up and the server still hadn't finished resolving the entire stack of bibles being melted. XSI had to remote in and manually put a bullet into the servers in order to escape the hell of
