We're not talking about generic civil war statues, we're talking about statutes of legendary men who served during the civil war.

France does have a good religious minority there that is easily outraged. The English just know how to stir up their minorities easier. But out of the two there will probably be another murder by religious motivation. Honestly I'm kinda numb sad to say. Only reason I even care about the attack in charlotesville is my family has a history of serving in the military + defeating Nazis.

Reminds me of when I was out travelling in Australia when the occupy protests were going on.

"Occupied" Melbourne was indistinguishable from regular Melbourne
"Occupied" Perth was two guys with a folding table hanging out next to the ice cream stand on that little plaza between the library, train station and the art museum, who went home at lunchtime.

The answer is, pretty much every single one of them. In Italy there were a few years of socialist uprising which ended with fascists seizing power. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biennio_Rosso

Tl;dr: factory workers brought the country on the brink of revolution, the major leftist parties cucked out and didn't want to follow through, fascists took advantage of the situation and seized power.

Alright. Thank you for responding Remie. I can think about that then (and pretend I know more than a neuroscientist about brains, maybe I should make a friend out of one to compensate, having a nurse for a mother certainly turned out well).
It's a complicated, divisive, controversial issue within a field that's itself already complicated and unsettled. My understanding is that the general consensus in the field, as it directly relates to gender identity, is that the majority of such identify is formed by the environment but genetics does play some factor.

As to Remie's statement about females having more connections between the hemispheres, I can tell you in no uncertain terms that's wrong. The connection is small, ample enough in everyone to serve its purpose, and actually unnecessary. People have that connection severed and lead perfectly normal lives with literally no change in behavior. Apparently both hemispheres independently come to the same conclusions and the only thing the connection serves is to share sensory inputs. Since most input is visual and most people use both eyes to look at things, nbd.

Wasn't severing that connection a pseudoscience 'cure' for all sorts of mental issues like 40-70 years ago?
Some interesting things came out of it. Most of it wasn't actually fixing the mental issues

Things like people who could draw two things at once
And would grab two different snacks when asked to grab their favorite snack

Stuff like that

In less research required to be informed news, MPs appear to be one by one coming to the BBC and complaining about how Big Ben is now silenced for four years and how they really think we don't need to keep it quiet for that long. I would say that sadly no-one is explaining what is taking place, but it's not sad to see MPs demand from the news that something already decided needs to be changed because it didn't have the outcome they wanted. Maybe I could tinfoil it and pretend (I assume) the conservatives are trying to preserve a nationalist image by complaining without doing anything, however Amber Rudd and Theresa May have both been publicly silent for a very long time whilst being the only politicians anyone might remember saying something empty. So no bell themed conspiracy for today.

I hope all of you across the pond enjoy your eclipse! I hear it's very special, something about once in a century across the entire nation. That and my family couldn't hold their tongue before saying it's a sign Trump's presidency is going to fail. It's comet sense what a real omen is. I think we'll get to see it around 8pm here in the UK, anyone around London, Kent or Suffolk is hampered with a less amazing display and deep into the continent won't see anything at all. Hope you all enjoy it!

There's lots of rumors of weird stuff. My mother said to watch my dog because people would want to sacrifice it to the eclipse. I seriously doubt it though. Actually the town is expecting lots of business tomorrow but... I don't think we'll have that many visitors on basis of the street traffic. I'll tell you more after today...

4chan /pol/ has lauded the eclipse as a sign of Trump's victory and an empowerment of white nationalist movements for over a year now, including some pretty detailed reasoning why it means that and not other things.
Also common as suggestions that it's an omen for a natural disaster that would come and hit a democrat area(?) which will then be helped by Trump and vote Trump in 2020

/x/ mostly considers this to be bullshit, but they are for sure interested in the event as it's a great time for some rituals (Especially pagan and non-popular religious ones), but by itself it doesn't really mean much. Plenty of people predicting a whole bunch of random shit but none of it with any real method to it

Next interesting event is apparently on Sept 23, even more rare than the eclipse (Once in 7000 years alignment of some stars and planets)
Something something biblical prophecy of the end times, very vaguely worded stuff and for some reason that section of sky was blocked by NASA and google
http://imgur.com/a/yRyRi
The thing with all recorded 'omens' and 'prophesies' is that they're so vaguely worded that anyone can look back after the fact and go "Yeah, that happened. See, these events actually meant these things!"

But entirely reasonable- The eclipse is probably not an omen of some kind, just an interesting event that has some occult significance for some occult traditions
