This is it, gamers!
Spoiler:
i preordered the 2080 gigabyte windforce bc it has more heat pipes now and my 1080 windforce runs like a champ and is quiet as fuck

plus that 2080 is only $790
also here's the vid of that faulty 1080ti I sent back

https://videocardz.com/77763/nvidia-gef ... -leaks-out

I'd cancel that pre-order. +300mhz overclock and a 5% performance increase over the 1080ti that has no overclock on it. Point being. If you overclock the 1080ti it outperforms a 2080.

Did you read the article? It's looking like the 2080 is 5-6% better than the 1080ti. For almost twice the price. You're probably only going to see an advantage with games that use DLSS and Raytracing.

Guarantee that's the 2070 not the 2080. If you read the article you'd see they don't know which.

And games aren't going to be using it. The render cost scales fast with resolution, and it's really only intended for render farms. No sane dev is going to use it, VR devs already wrote it off. Stop wasting your money pillz.

So I canceled my 2080 order... and then preordered a 2080ti from EVGA for $1250

but that wouldn't ship until the last week of October so I canceled that one, added another $100, and got their custom pcb 3 fan version coming at the end of October

$1470 after shipping and taxes! They're sold out now so glad I saw it when I did.

Here we go gamers!

4k seems like overkill for anything. Do any games even need that kind of resolution? 1080ti + i7 7700k will run anything for the next few years, so why bother why this new stuff? Is it some kind of bragging rights thing?

To each their own. If he enjoys having the latest tech, then good for him. Im just curious why someone would want to go so overkill with their gaming hardware, especially when it will probably be overshadowed by some new hardware within a year.

Benchmarks are out.

2080ti is 45% faster than the 1080ti
2080 is 15% faster than the 1080ti
2080 is 46% faster than 1080

So 2080ti is able to easily do over 60fps on max settings, any game, in 4k. Before overclocking and not even using DLSS.

I imagine with an overclock a 2080ti can do 100hz 4k.

Getting a 2080 instead since it's slightly better than a 1080Ti and not much more expensive. 2080Ti is too much for only 30% tops. If it was 40-50% I'd get the Ti.

You might want to watch the video GamersNexus just did on the 2080. You're talking a marginal upgrade <2% over a 1080ti and it has overclocking issues because it draws 350 watts on load and the card physically gets super hot when OCing with draws of 400w+ of power.

Unless you're dropping $250 on a solid PSU. Why the fuck would you buy this trash > a 1080ti. Higher thermals. Higher power consumption. For on par performance with a 2 year old chipset that runs cool and cuts the power consumption by 30% at load.

Edit: Also as of this writing the price of 1080ti's is increasing. xD

Because I'd rather have newer tech with untapped potential than a 2 year old card for not that much more.

RTX cards can take advantage of async compute, hence why in Ashes of the Singularity and Wolfenstein the 2080 and 2080Ti blow the fuck out of pascal cards. If that and DLSS get implemented more often framerates can get rediculously high.

The MSI 2080 uses a custom PCB with a higher voltage limit, so it can be overclocked for +10-12% performance over the Nvidia FE cards. The MSI 2080 by default is 5-12% better than a 1080Ti, at the beginning of its life cycle. That means over 20% better performance when overclocked. That's not even with DLSS or async compute.

consider the following:
if you buy new cards quad-annually instead like a sensible person you will be able to run games at max settings in 1080p or even 1440p until you need to upgrade

Except I can't do that with my current 1080, I get around 80fps in most games on lowered settings on a 100hz 3440x1440 monitor. I'm switching over to a 165hz 1440p monitor soon which is just as demanding if not more.

My PC is my luxury expense so.
