I'm reading and rollin' at this very minute. I doubt this will be the character I will use but I want to get used to making a character and wrapping my head around the complexities of rolling two six sided dice.

Are we using the edition where you can die in chargen?

I hope so.

Here ya guys go. I figure we could take further Traveler chat to its own thread so anyone who wants to keep talking about other games and organizing other stuff can use this one.

IIRC It's possible but incredibly difficult to have happen. Events that would have previously just been like LOL U DED now just have other serious negative effects (prosthetic body parts and negative stats, major enemies and even more of THAT FUCKING DEBT). IIRC the only way a character dies in this chargen is if you are so catastrophically unlucky as to have the same attribute reduced enough times by repeated failure.

Step 1: Decide to play Unknown Armies.
Step 2: Go to https://twitter.com/abovetopsecretx
Step 3: Base your campaign off of one of the posts.

RETURN OF THE DOUBLEPOSTING FAGGOT

I bought Car Wars this weekend and holy shit this is the most autistic game I've even seen packaged into a 6"x9" box. I've played TTRPGs and Wargames with smaller rules books.

Rules for banging other PCs as in 'don't', as in 'make a roll' or as in 'double-check your history, skills, charisma (or equivalent), etc.'?

The latter two. You can also level up from banging other players which is like an inverse DM's girlfriend situation but IC.

Yo, I'm mulling around the idea of running a D&D campaign on the forums, anyone interested? And if so, which sounds better? A Romance of the Three Kingdoms meets Jade Empire-type thing set in Not-Asia or a Northlanders sorta deal set in a snowy harsh country that hasn't quite yet grasped the concept of civilization, Red Dead Redemption-style.

The former I'd run as a straight-up campaign, the latter would be a Western Marches-type campaign (Sandbox on crack, basically) which would allow for more than just six players and even multiple DMs.

You already know I'm down for either, though preferring the first choice.

You can count me in, second ones sounds way cool

Re: Tabletop Night?

Posted: Mon May 25, 2015 2:16 am
by Maccus
For the second one it's all a matter of saying you want in to get in. West Marches campaigns work like this: The players are all rag-tag explorer types who go pilfer through the badlands pretty much, ancient tombs and such, looking for treasure, with a homebase located at one specific spot. The world's constantly changing as a result of the players' actions (The DMG allows for building strongholds if you're rich enough, for example), it's THE sandbox experience. Players can help out with tips of an area they've explored, give hints on nearby locations, stuff like that, and once all the treasure's looted or the magic artifact stolen or the beast slain, they can go back to the homebase city and share their experiences and sell their loot. Hell, ambitiously-minded players can make their own power-play for the country if they're strong enough, anything goes IC.

P.S., that's two for the second, one for the first, one for either.

Planning on using 5e, when I have at least 5 people interested and we can agree on which campaign to run I'll be ready to start working on it.

P.S. PM me anyone who wants in on D&D or whatever.

EDIT: Another idea I'd want to try is this in either the system made for it or a system better suited:

Image

Imagine, all of us in a big campaign with us either working with or against one another. Though truth be told I'd rather play than GM.

MOTHER

FUCKING

CARWARS

This book is the Holy Grail of tabletop funtime wargames. I'm proud to have a copy. It's rare as fuck good luck finding it. Just finding a PDF of it is pretty goddamn impossible.

Jesus christ you have no idea how badly you just activated my goddamn autism boner. I love this game so much. I scaled up and printed out a turnkey for Hotwheels/Matchbox sized cares and would repaint cars and glue Gi Joe guns and shit on them to make them into Car Wars models.

Fuck I can't even talk more about this right now I'm freaking out. I'm fucking sperging physically just sperging out in my chair fuck.

I love Mechwarrior on the PC as a kid and then they made Interstate76 and I was in heaven. Mad Max + Mechwarrior. Build your own death mobile and drive around the desert blowing up other dudes with their own muscle cars loaded with missles and shit. Then I found out that they had largely based the game on this tabletop game and two great passions collided and catch me jesus the autism is taking hold again arrrrrghhh

EDIT: FUCKING FINALLY

Don't know when they finally got around to this but there's a PDF of this glorious final edition of the game available here. I still have my print copy but if you're interested:

That's the one I bought. Even at its compact size you could probably knock someone's teeth out with the manual if you really tried.

They're different.

If they're the same price get the PDF. It's everything all in one book. It's got rules for cars, motocycles, big rigs, tractor trailers, boats, helicopters, and I think maybe even tanks?

It's a collection of all the weapons supplements and everything they've ever made.

It DOESNT have any maps or tokens but if you're ever going to play this game with anyone you're going to be playing it on a virtual tabletop because nobody knows what the fuck this game is aside from a few elite old ass nerds.
