This came so unexpectedly. He always seemed so happy. Apparently he had addiction problems though, which eventually led to depression...
RIP

>celebrity dies
>WOW RIP TALK TO SOMEONE IF UR HURTING PERMANENT SOLUTION TEMPORARY PROBLEM WOW RIP SUICIDE ISNT A JOKE SO HAPPY WOW DIDNT SEE IT COMING
robin williams had a horrible cocaine problem, as bad as john belushis, only he died first so he cut the shit
cocaine abuse completely fucks your serotonin receptors, overloads the fuck out of them
for the past 10 years hes had a bad drinking problem, he lost all his money in his divorce, paying ridiculous amounts of bullshit alimony and was doing shitty TV shows and isnt even a main character
really your all so shocked and devastated im sure, like you knew him on a personal level
It won't stop hurting.
You feel it too, don't you?

A man goes to see a doctor. Doctor asks what seems to be the trouble. The man says, "Doc, I'm depressed. Simply, I can't sleep sometimes, I can't eat, I feel down and irritable most days. I just can't feel 'happy.'"
The Doctor says, "I've got the perfect fix for you. In town tonight is the great clown Pagliacci. He's hysterically funny and will make you laugh til you cry. You will experience a joy unprecedented."
The man bursts into tears. "Doc, I am Pagliacci."

It was very sudden to hear that Robin wasn't with us anymore, I always loved him in all his movies, especially Mrs.Doubtfire.

Quiet often its the other way around. People suffer from depression and try to "self medicate", cocaine or other drugs that allow you to distance yourself from reality or your depression is not unusual. Also a comedian being depressed is not an uncommon occurrence either. Maybe one follows the other. Either way depression can be so hidden within someone no one can suspect the person has suffered or needed help and asking for help is extremely unlikely.
He was a great man, he was a funny man. Just because more recent things he did weren't up to your high standards Terbs doesn't wipe from existence all the other things he did and did well. Maybe that sounds passive aggressive, but what I mean is someone being average doesn't cause everything they did before to be forgotten.
If any positive has come of it, its that mental health has been discussed or brought to light in mainstream media.

richard pryor also tried to kill himself, by lighting himself on fire

Terbs. So Salty.
Of course there at least i have my late idol George Carlin as a man who's never said he tried. Though with the drugs he consumed in the 70s 80s and beyond could have been an attempt.
Instead it was just his shitty weak irish heart.

I think you might be right, but I'd like to at least pretend to be positive about this right now...

This wasn't because he was a comedian.
This was because of him having financial difficulties (which okay i guess could be contributed to him being a comedian) and his drug abuse.
That was it, blaming a non existent problem not only does injustice to the person we're talking about and to everyone else who suffers from the same shit he did.
There are as many depressed comedians as there are perfectly normal comedians.
