All I gather from the article is that they sent a rocket with some satellites to Mars for cheap. It doesn't say what the satellites are capable of or why.

They didn't 'wreck' the USA because they shot a rocket to mars that cost less than some shitty Hollywood movie. If they shot a half naked, mildly attractive girl to Mars then MAYBE there would be some reason to actually mention the movie gravity.

It even paints India to be in the middle of self congratulatory garbage.

“Even today our program stands out as the most cost effective in the world.”

He made no mention of China, where Beijing's programme is far ahead of India's, with bigger rockets, more launches and equally cost-effective missions.

All in all, 1/10 on reading comprehension and the US is still the only country to drop a massive fucking science machine onto the surface of mars with a space crane.
