Even something as simple as desiring more restriction on immigration

There is a difference between desiring more restriction on immigration and comparing the ottoman invasions of Europe in the 16th century to economic migrants in the 21st.

This week UAE both took direct custody of children in a family for having a step-father 'of different culture & lifestyle' of the mother, and imprisoned a british national for life without medication or disclosing where they are; under charges of spying which are yet to be publically substantiated then claim these are constitutional uses of their power.

Meanwhile you can have your child taken away from you for being too Native American, and also too non transgender-inclusive in Canada (as per Bill 89 for the latter).

Racism, persecution and discrimination is completely inverse at this current time, meme all you want about heterosexuality being outlawed but the societal pressure will become more and more increasingly hostile to society and a whole range of groups in backlash like what happened in the post WW1 resentment that pushed populist groups acting on public anger.

At this point you would need to be stupid to not believe in some form of conspiracy theory
There's been a shitload that have been declassified too, so it's hard to blame anyone who doesn't believe the government on anything

The UK and Germany have hidden immigrant crime for decades, US based NGOs have used vaccines to spread birth control in Africa without the population there knowing, and there's literally public notice and protests when a 'global cabal' (Of which there are multiple. Some with conflicting plans and interests, and some more secret than others) meets to discus how to control the world and there's freely available admissions that they try to control things
If you are not at the very least skeptical of a lot of things and demanding proof, you're doing something wrong
If you've demanded proof of the government and none is provided, then you are by all means right to think they are hiding it

Because the alternative is that everything is just happening by incompetence, in which case you would also be right to be pissed at the government and wanting them replaced
Don't trust authority. History has shown us that they're not trustworthy

It's like flying saucers, for decades the people that saw them were claimed to be crazy, when in reality the USAF were testing designs they stole from Germany during ww2.

What does surprise me though is that despite the right being highly skeptical most of them I bump into are religious

Saying "ITS ONLY A THEEOOOORY" in regards to the theory of evolution is something young earth creationists do. What i am saying is moral hand wringing over people believing in "conspiracy theories" is fucking stupid because there's documenter evidence of governments throughout history being shitheads.

"conspiracy theory" is one of those mind-closing phrases that is bandied about precisely because it closes minds.

tarring them with that brush is merely a useful shortcut to preventing people from listening to them, and is usually easier than proving them wrong (sometimes impossible depending on how close to the mark they are)

history is full of conspiracies, and often they are successful.

You know, there was an ACTUAL fucking cult in South Korea that had been manipulating the President over there and people who reported on it were dismissed as conspiracy theorists until they heard from the prez's mouth herself that it was all true.

Conspiracy shit happens in real life, don't dismiss theories just because it's conspiratorial.

what's the difference if i might ask

besides being two slightly different things seems to me they both happen

also isn't a cult being in control of the government kind of a big deal and not actually a result of incompetence at all anyway

two of them were delivering aircraft to outlying american island bases and one was in san diego to embark it's air group after refitting.

The japanese knew this and pushed ahead with the attack anyway as they believed the battleships were more important at that stage.

Saying that "RMS Lusitania was transporting war supplies" used to be a conspiracy too.

Even if we ignore every questionable detail related to 9/11, we should consider the fact that the media was instructed to use the attack to justify the war on Iraq.

the media is pretty much one entity

not to say that they are all controlled by some shadowy conspiracy (though i wouldn't rule it out personally) but most of their reporters are informed by the same culture, they report on things that are fed to them from a dwindling number of sources, most of them have one of two political biases, and the vast majority is controlled by a tiny number of companies that all have similar interests.

See, that shit is why nobody takes the news agencies serious anymore. Among many other reasons
They're not even hiding that they're told to push an agenda and are given a script to read

Fucking schoolkids know that they need to change a few words and maybe intentionally mess up spelling if they copy someone's homework, but that's apparently too much for the news

Reopening the coal mines is actually a very sound idea though
Along with our locally produced oil it'd help lessen our dependence on outside nations which can only be a good thing

Becoming isolationist in this era is just a step backwards.

The world is connected and dependent on each other. And that is good for the world. The more dependent we are on each other the less likely we are to try to kill each other.

Being self-sufficient is always good
It's nice to trade and everything but if you don't have to trade then you're in a much better position on deals you want to make
You could just walk away, after all. You've got your self-sufficiency so the only things you're losing out on are luxuries you can't make yourself. It's a good goal to have as any group of people or country and a stronger position than being forced to rely on others who may or may not have good intentions

Of course then the other question is whether it is an economically viable goal. Sure, you have coal. But is digging it up, making sure all your power plants can burn it, and cleaning up the environment afterwards worth it compared to other power sources?
For coal, I'm fairly sure the time has passed. But that doesn't mean it's not worth it to take a good look at things every now and then and see if it's worth going with that

I'm pretty sure that means its time to actually fund some manner of security rather than using the army

Also

Good job. Still failed

If they keep pushing this migration bullshit it's only going to lead to a very strong, possibly very violent counter-reaction
We've already got bits of a reaction making them reconsider in a few places, but that will be nothing compared to what happens if this isn't stopped and immediately reversed

Holy molly thank goodness current Australian government has refused to sign this global compact on migration.

I hope the opposition sees sense even if you like immigration as an idea this sovereignty and free speech destroying madness cannot be tolerated and unlike the sickness that is the EU there is not even a shrivelled carrot on a stick.
CosmicScientist wrote:>Ireland has nearly 5 million citizens

Sorry, scratching my head, why do they want a 10% increase of population even before considering cultural background? Do they have a 0.2 child per adult replacement rate or summat?

They don't have enough houses for the migrants so they need more migrants who are not green lit for being construction workers to be construction workers to make houses for the new migrants.

I suppose some of the migrants have wonder twin powers to turn into construction materials and equipment.

Might let some decepticons immigrate too because they need people who can turn into more public transport.
