I was interested in 23&Me until I was told you're paying for the privilege of having your complete DNA profile become part of some Big Data database that any assholes can buy to access.
What's ancestry.com's policy?

These things aren't even accurate
They're not tracking ancestry, they're tracking repeated genome sequences common to certain populations- but common in genetic terms means about a 70% margin of error

Do you really expect anything else from this thread?
Drynwyn is right too, it's not really tracking your ancestry as much as just making an educated guess based on your DNA stuff

which explains why I have never felt exhausted

Fuck I want to get this.
Though, I can't really shake the whole feeling that like it's a completely worthless purchase that only really is for vanity reasons.

A lot of things are purely vanity, many things are purely entertainment
Doesn't make it wrong to spend money on it, just means you'll have to consider if you truly want to or if the price is worth the result

Apparently accurate enough for Portugal to grant somebody citizenship over the results.

its really not hard to get portuguese citizenship if you're white or rich.
if you're black either born here or born in the colonies good fucking luck on getting anywhere.
there's people who are of cape verde descent but were born in portugal and if they were born between a certain time they're shit out of luck because they legally have no citizenship to either country and the bureaucracy will do nothing about it.

Luke Cox wrote:Am I a paranoid fuck or am I right to be wary of giving them my DNA?
more than likely as dna technology becomes more and more proliferated that companies will get your dna one way or another. It's like your internet history, if there's a will there's a way and if there is a need for people to know about your genes then that will happen.

This bit is actually not accurate- once desirable/undesirable genetic sequences are firmly identified, modifying a human embryo to possess those genes is well within reach (and not even particularly expensive- you can actually find 90% of the equipment you'd need to perform a Crispr-CAS9 modification of a human embryo at most hospitals, and pick up the remainder of what you need for less than $500.) Really the only thing standing between us and genetically modified humans is institutional review boards and ethics committees.
p.s hit me up if you want your kids genetically modified

That assumes that he will have kids
In all seriousness though, if we eliminate all non-optimal genes, we're probably in for some pretty bad disease outbreaks in the future on account of almost everyone using the same immune system genes

Jews also consider themselves a tribe, as one of the 12 tribes of Israel
Of course the majority these days can't trace their linage back to anything even remotely resembling that, but hey, details right?

fun fats;
your str stat does not reflect your true strength
if you are retarded, you get a bonus to true strength - tardstrength
if you are high int, you get a bonus to true strength - increased muscle fibre activation
chimps, gorillas and monkeys, for example have massive true strength but incredibly low int and end because they expend all their strength at once.
i don't know about you, but my brain has two halves; left, and right swipe.
str gives a boost to cha.
your power and meta game is lacking irl.
