There is nothing wrong with putting symbols on the station title name, nor are the rules disfunctional for dealing with abuse. The admins are mentally feeble and did not find it funny so forced IC events to undo it predisposed to their bias believing they were 100% right and now should issue a apology to the player, but still retain the ban albiet with a writ up note about the transpired events to admin culpability in the response.

Because that's just how it is on this bitch of a earth.

On the other hand, i find the creative use of swastikas in that way hilarious. On any good day; shenanigans would be looked over and the moment some admin with the power to unban finds even funny; the sin is absolved because that's as much of a judgemental take as it took going into this situation that can take him back out. But the staff team does not have diverse sense of humor on a satirical game where judgements can be waivered on personal taste for the subject matter.

I waste my breath on incomprehensibility anyway, but this ground my gears because this player took the risk, lost (just is what SS13 is), but got doled out a much more severe punishment to something admins fixed in a matter of moments for something not related to the round in personal beliefs.

Either everything is funny to everyone, and you end up with every rule violation being passed in a fit of giggles, or only a very limited set of things are funny in which why would such a precedent even be used when a solid rule of things that are funny to not funny be much more apt?

Even if you disregard what i think of admin picks, choices and personal responsibility, they were still shortchanged in a crucial way.

I still believe personally if a coder breaks the game, and runs away with code debt they should end up banned for a time, because there is a way to achieve their pentinence, as with coders who eventually break a lot of things continously should be given "respite" from playing the game in order to fix them. I can see no different that if a player breaks the engine in such a way that it bothers players & admins to remove and replace many parts (and room repairs if any took out), a writ of damages should be in mind for the sentence especially regarding its reset the next round.

Reputationally you have nothing to lose from the person doing it once and it getting fixed for the funnies, so why so authoritarian in the approach?

The only reason Basil is the meme server right now is because it's on the Hub. Once they change it to Sybil it'll be that.

Going to just say that your speech policing policy thread was in vain to add salt to the wound of a worsening situation. In short the restriction of free speech entails that /tg/ has fully embraced politicization of policy; in which recruiting another head-administrator will or would not be likely to resolve without a degree of influence i dont think they'd have to shift the current position.
