time crimes

the two best ways to do time travel movies properly

primer is a three hour long movie in 80 minutes and time crimes is a 30 minute movie in 90 minutes

Scorsese's "The King of Comedy" with Robert De Niro isn't commonly known, but is a great exploration of modern celebrity culture (or at least, late 20th century celebrity culture). If you liked Joker and Taxi Driver, you'll probably like this one.

Watched this earlier this week. Pretty good movie. It's a drama/comedy about a dystopian society in which being single is illegal.

Best movie of last year IMO. Green Goblin and Batman go work on a remote lighthouse and they get very horny.

This is a really great film, and I haven't seen any big western youtube channel talk about it. It's a Korean erotic thriller. It's quite a roller coaster of emotions, and is very well made. Very satisfying to watch.

The Inhabited Island. A russian sci-fi 2 parter with some critique to politics. Good mixture of serious, silly, and weird

Maybe not super super obscure, but it's one of my favorites that more people have to watch.

Didnt the guy who directed the original Oldboy also direct this?
Oh yeah watch Oldboy (2003) and avoid the "reinterpretation" like the plague

My favorite movie's Snatch

I also eagerly recommend all animated movies by the late great Satoshi Kon

pandorum is a fun one for sci-fi fuckery

I've occasionally thought about spriting up and adding the little crank-powered taser thing the guy has

Okay this weekend I watched

12 Strong (If you mute it and pretend it's like modern LOTR and just marvel at mountains and horseback riding it's not the worst thing ever, otherwise holy shit the dialog was painful)

Hotel Artemis (Hell Yeah this was some fun sci-fi)

The Lighthouse (Yeah this movie is such an arthouse flick)

While I don't think it's an obscure movie, it's definitely something difficult for a plebian like myself to stumble across of, so I'll share it.

I watched "Man With a Movie Camera" tonight and holy shit it was fucking good. It's premise is basically it's title: it follows a "man with a movie camera" around Russia in the 20s, capturing both a realistic picture of urban life back then, and an artists' dedication to accurately representing it. Despite the fact that it's nearly a century old I don't think it's dated in the slightest, the movie just seems timeless. Made me appreciate filming a moment simply for the sake of capturing it, without a higher artistic goal in mind (although that is pretty lofty in and of itself). You should definitely watch it!

PS I watched version with Michael Nyman's soundtrack, which I found fitting, although I imagine there might be a better one out there.

Watched Enola Holmes this weekend, which was not my choice. Holy shit it was bad.
