I'm sorry you feel this way, its certainly on my writing style here.

My analogies were aimed at how the use of discretion could have avoided this completely and any other drama about it. Specifically on poor decisions and judgments being made between the two involved. The entire thing was an avoidable tragedy that could have been avoided with the use of discretion. In this case, by not posting discrete information in a public space (A public Discord) that is meant to be private where pot stirrers would only become enabled by it (Starting that bar fire and others fanning the flames).

All they had to do was quietly tell the bar staff, not say it from on top of a bar table, because doing that and making it into a fuss might just get them kicked out too.

that's dumb though. a person has a right to defend themselves and if the ban reason's incorrect then what's the point of providing one? if coconut said "hey you know the doxxing was much worse than that", then i would assume the guy did dox him beyond revealing his age (which i dont even consider doxxing) and the ban's probably valid even if no more can be revealed without risking the guy's personal info. as far as i can tell, coconut has never implied that there was anything else to it, just that what the guy said he did was much worse than the guy thinks.


he revealed someone's age online in a nonmalicious manner after the person outright told him their age. the way i see it, he did the right thing by ending his relationship with that person and i dont see why he shouldnt be able to explain why that relationship ended so suddenly to others. it's one's own responsibility to keep their information safe online to a certain point. i'd say that not telling people personally identifiable info they don't want others to hear falls within that responsibility. it would be a lot different if the mey tracked down the kid's instagram or facebook or whatever, but that's not what happened.

i understand doxxing is a really sensitive topic because no one wants their personal lives brought into spessmens but i think it's also important to keep our heads and stay reasonable about this. even if what he did was wrong, which i dont think it was to the extent that coconut claims, he's obviously learned his lesson and it happened in such a niche case that i doubt it'll happen again. please note that im saying all of this under the assumption mey is telling the truth, which i feel is a safe assumption considering the fact nobody's contradicted him about the what the actions were, just the perceived severity of them.

That boiled down to, ending a friendship due to age, cool, reasonable. Ending a friendship while also catching things on fire (intentionally or otherwise), not so cool.
