I wonder IF we had a specific area of the forum segregated from the rest where you could post shit all day and everything was going to delete itself based on lack of interest, that maybe the overall quality of the forum would increase ?

True. I can explain it with Jonathan Crazy Man Gupta's threads getting more attention than whatever Sticky puts up, and that discrepancy between perceived effort and success creates jealousy. I keep gupta unblocked because his posts are funnier than spam text
if someone manages to actually be less funny than gravelposting I'll probably find out how to block them but I haven't encountered anyone like that yet

You had some good stuff in the Trump thread. Intelligent and informed, which I never see in the places I see politics discussed on the internet. I haven't been able to get that thread started again and everything else that's gotten it going has been off-topic shitposting.
