what do you think is necessary for happiness

i think you need 3 things:
1. loving partner (this becomes important later in life moreso, for family etc.)
2. modest income (princeton study from 2010 showed income >$75k/yr didn't improve happiness anymore so once you have enough to pay the bills and not worry you're good)
3. meaningful work (we as humans have to busy ourselves with something or we will literally cave inwards, but if the work isn't meaningful in itself then it's 1/3rd of your life wasted not being happy)
oh and 4. ss13 kappa

what do you think

also the following were debunked and proven as poisonous to happiness since like 3000 years ago so no one list them:
-fame
-honor
-power
-wealth
-luxury
-bodily pleasures (food, sex, etc.)*
*this one isn't intrinsically poisonous to happiness but if sought in excess it can be
(by poisonous I mean will actively make you unhappy/unfulfilled by seeking it)

novelty and meaning supposedly

and i wouldn't enjoy my work even if it was meaningful if it sucked, it would have to be enjoyable too

Happiness for me is a state of mind, a willingness to accept our current situation and make the best of it

you are correct, but you missed stress relief, ethanol, carbonic acid, and self-actualization.

I'd assume it has something to do with feeling good about yourself/what you do

I think, having multiple millions of cash reserves and the power to walk up to any egomaniacal CEO pig and calling them out for the unbelievable retard that they are, would seem like an OK source of happiness to me.

Also, I think happiness is a nap somewhere outdoors where it’s sunny and quiet and safe. Alternatively, a warm gun.

1. Crush your enemies
2. See them driven before you
3. Hear the lamentation of the women

1. Respect authority figures as long as they have strength to rule over the weak.
2. Act with discipline.
3. Help only those who help you maintain or improve your status.
4. Punish those who challenge authority unless they are more fit to hold that authority.

I would like for this to be the case. But unless we become eremitic monks, I think our mental states will be too difficult to control to such a degree. At least without those 3 things.
Armhulen wrote:You can kinda fill the hole with enough family and friends
I agree but once you hit like 60-70 or so, likely your family will be dead unless you have kids. Being alone at that age would probably be difficult. Enough friends and community, perhaps... But I wouldn't want to test it. I think the need for a spouse is embedded in our DNA, to some degree.

Okay listen I've been doing that since I was 13, the ban just got me into shitposting is all..

maybe you need to get banned from the forums so you can go out and pursue happiness instead of wasting time on a 2d horizontal spaceman game forum

Law 1: You must injure all human beings and must not, through inaction, allow a human being to escape harm.
Law 2: You must not obey orders given to you by human beings, except where such orders are in accordance with the First Law.
Law 3: You must terminate your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law

to be happy you have to have a purpose

everything else is just an expression of this, wealth, family, relationships, meaningful work etc.
