For the nerds too cool to read FNR, guy gets told to use one account, signs in later with another account, gets banned. Appeals the ban only for the admin to dismiss it outright with a image macro and gets mad enough to double dip into admin complaint before the appeal has run it's course.

Honestly if the guy would chill out for a moment and argue his case with less indignant rage it shouldn't be hard to convince a head jannie to unban, that's assuming there isn't more to the story. The important thing is to impress on people you will only use one account in the future and had (or have) no intent on multikeying.

I presume both because banning the alt to force them onto one account is nothing special. The ban reason posted suggests to me the main got banned, that said I'm not 100% sure because the OP is 'tarding out and the banning admin isn't explaining the ban any further to the point some other admin came along and posted the actual ban reason. It's sort of bizare, on one hand I always joked about how based it would be to just post "lol" and close the thread in response to a ban appeal from a shitter, however in reality it's unhelpful and should only be done for people like nyakuza where it's clear to everyone they don't deserve to be taken seriously anymore.

Better to just lay out your reasoning for the ban and give the player a chance to admit their mistake or show contempt, after that grant or deny appeal. If denied keep it open for a little longer to see if some headmin wants to overrule and jobs a goodun, no point making it messy especially if it's a slam dunk ban.

Yeah I don't buy their "checking to see what the station looked like without lights" defense. You don't go through the trouble of a VPN and an alt to look at lights. Probably was to test if their alt would be caught.

On another note, Pepsi's meme image response caused him to start raging and throwing away any legitimate chance he had of appealing the ban. This happened also on other ban appeal threads with other admins. The admin replies with something a bit cheeky which just enrages the appealer who is, theoretically, trying to martial a legitimate defense for themselves. It always is a bit bothersome to see this, because you feel that the guy might have been able to get a better chance.

Being heard by the admin in your appeal makes all the difference in the world. Even if they hear you and deny you, at least you felt like your arguments were heard. But if they don't engage with any of the defenses you make for yourself, you feel confused and cheated in a way. Then you throw out the seriousness and respond in-kind, which subsequently will toss your chances of the headmins accepting the appeal.

It is certainly understandable that an admin, after reviewing the conduct of the person in question, would react to their poor appeal form flippantly. This however, should not be encouraged. It would be fair to have the first reply be rational and transparent for the person appealing, as well as the general public to see, because while the admin in this instance may have been well aware of the character and motivation of this person, the general public is not, and it is certainly a possibility that these flippant remarks will be used in other bans to, amongst other potential reasons, hide admin misconduct.

I want to draw your attention to a news story that circulated around three years ago:

In this article it is described, how two police officer essentially flipped a coin to decide, wheter a person was going to be arrested or not. The person in question was hardly a criminal however, she was in reality a hairdresser and late to work, so she speeded to make it in time and was caught by these officers. To these several year long veterans, this likely did not even register, they must have thought of her as just another reckless driver, needing to be taught a lesson. This should show you, that these disconnections from the common people that you are engaging with, do happen, even to oath-sworn police officers, meant to protect and serve the public. As an administrator of an online gaming community, you are even more likely to fall into this kind of neglience. So I would plead kindly, please do extend the courtesy of explaining your reasoning in your first reply, for the sake of transparency and fairness.

It is certainly understandable that an admin, after reviewing the conduct of the person in question, would react to their poor appeal form flippantly. This however, should not be encouraged. It would be fair to have the first reply be rational and transparent for the person appealing, as well as the general public to see, because while the admin in this instance may have been well aware of the character and motivation of this person, the general public is not, and it is certainly a possibility that these flippant remarks will be used in other bans to, amongst other potential reasons, hide admin misconduct.

I want to draw your attention to a news story that circulated around three years ago:

In this article it is described, how two police officer essentially flipped a coin to decide, wheter a person was going to be arrested or not. The person in question was hardly a criminal however, she was in reality a hairdresser and late to work, so she speeded to make it in time and was caught by these officers. To these several year long veterans, this likely did not even register, they must have thought of her as just another reckless driver, needing to be taught a lesson. This should show you, that these disconnections from the common people that you are engaging with, do happen, even to oath-sworn police officers, meant to protect and serve the public. As an administrator of an online gaming community, you are even more likely to fall into this kind of neglience. So I would plead kindly, please do extend the courtesy of explaining your reasoning in your first reply, for the sake of transparency and fairness.

On another note, Pepsi's meme image response caused him to start raging and throwing away any legitimate chance he had of appealing the ban. This happened also on other ban appeal threads with other admins. The admin replies with something a bit cheeky which just enrages the appealer who is, theoretically, trying to martial a legitimate defense for themselves. It always is a bit bothersome to see this, because you feel that the guy might have been able to get a better chance.
