Firing pin breakage was a result of dry firing older models. Fucking spoiler alert: it was a problem a lot of older pistols had. You're not supposed to run around playing pretend cops and robbers dry-firing your handgun into the air like a fucking sperg. If you feel like you need to practice what it's like to run out of ammunition, go buy some snap caps.

tl;dr it's mechanical failure as a result of operator error, shithead.

I have too many guns. If anybody want's to meet in the east coast I have a 1911 with a ambidextrous safety, and I installed a magazine guide. I don't like this particular one as my preference is more classic. It's nice and the front serrated slide is great for gloves. Now I use something else I use as my work gun. Will not come with the threaded barrel.

Can't tell make. It looks like a knock-off Kimber, or maybe just a really old Kimber.

Is that one of those Filipino 1911's? I've heard that they're a great buy for the price but I've never handled one.

EDIT: Yeah I'm pretty sure that's from the Philippines.

It's a citadel with multiple upgrades made in America. And I hate Kimbers. They're too finely tuned and their tolerances are too high. My favorite 1911 of mine is one made in Spain from the late 1950's. Changed the spring's, love the patina, and the grips are lacquered mahogany. Not my work gun but love it all the same. The citadel has a two piece guide rod for stability that helps with consistent target allocation, but my baby has the one piece spring guide rod. I can put my rounds through a bulls eye target at twenty yards in groups of two that I cannot do with the citadel.

Maybe it's just preference?

Citadel is just the American rebrand of Armscor. I'm not trying to cast shame on your purchase for being made out of the country or saying its low-quality. Quite the opposite, every first-hand opinion I've heard on those Phillipines manufacture 1911 is that they're great guns at a great price. If your gun is one of those guns, it means you made a smart purchase and got a lot of funz for not a lot of fundz.

That screw(?) just above the trigger the right side of the frame is a dead giveaway that it's from that line of pistols.

ANYWAY I have no idea what a two-piece guide rod would look like in teardown or what benefit it might afford therein. The last 1911 I played with was a Norinco piece of shit that felt like I was holding a sledgehammer and was only good for beating fence-posts into the dirt.

Ha ha. I never fired a Norinco but was told by a few that they're cheap. Much rather debate firearms in person when I know information is not a click away but the links helped ANON3. Didn't like it in the first place as preference, but if anybody wants it, just PM me. I have a few more. Have a Beretta contracted Helwan made in Egypt as a throw away pistol or glove box gun if anybody wants in 9mm. Replace the fucking early period polymer ones that are worthless.

And the difference is pretty simple. Let me hurry this up but....

Full length guide rod for a 1911

Or a two piece guide rod like on the classic colts or colt gold cups.

Does not apply to every colt but this is a visual reference with or without recoil buffers.

You should see my family. Altogether we've got five AR-15s, one of which has a Beowulf .50 upper receiver (Can't really use it for self defense though. The rounds are designed to penetrate an engine block so there's too much risk of it going through a wall and harming someone), an SKS, two AK-47s (one of which came from Front Sight and unfortunately, is a Czech piece of shit), A remmington 270, Three shotguns, specifically a Remmington 870, Benelli M1, and one I just got from Frontsight, a gorgeous Hawk 982. We also have a CZ-75, a Springfield 45 XD, another XD but 40 cal, and a Makarov (Russians really know how to make a beautiful handgun).

Behold my precious waifus.

If you do have the AR Beowulf, nice. I tried firing one of those a few years ago and they're a bitch. No way you could fire one of those fully automatic without assistance of some sort. Should stay semi auto

i like revolvers
my grandpa has a ruger single six, but it only shoots pathetic tiny .22 cartridges
someday i want to own a nagant m1895, they're cheap as fuck but i havent gotten one yet. everyone knows you can silence those things and that's cool as hell
the go-to raifu for revolver lovers is usually some mateba or chiappa thing, but i admit i REALLY like the rhino. i'd love to have the 4 or 5 inch barrel version.
speaking of nagants i'd love to get a nugget too, those are also usually really cheap since there's fucking loads of them

Nagant revolvers are cheap as fuck to own and they're made well enough and yes you can suppress them

But the suppressor requires a tax stamp and purchasing both the suppressor and paying for that stamp will cost you well over three times what you spent on the pistol itself, if not even more depending on locality.
You could own four or five revolvers for the cost of just the suppressor alone when all is said and done. Think about that.

Also the ammo is hard to come by and also a supply of it will likely cost you more than the pistol you bought to shoot it.

Get a Makarov. But no seriously as a first gun it's a simple (enough) reliable (enough) ugly little shit that's cheap and fires cheap rounds and is easy to conceal. Dem dick grips.
You can even get a .22 conversion kit for it if you want to go apeshit on training and put your 300 rounds through it without investing much. If it's good enough for the Germans and Russians it's good enough for you.

Also actual revolver lovers celebrate PPC customs, break action horse pistols, and large bore magnums. The Chiappa Rhino series pistols and the Mateba Autorevolver are novelties. The 6 o'clock barrel position is sort-of an affront to all that is good and great in your Colt SAA's, your Lemat's, your Webleys, your Smith and Wessons, etc.

Image

>tfw knowing you will never get to fire a modern .357magnum break action revolver because of Clinton-era import restrictions
>tfw Canada bro's get random FUNZ you don't

Image

>tfw people talk shit about revolvers as viable CC
>if eight rounds of .357 magnum can't kill it, you should probably run

I would assert that the .357 magnum cartridge was the first bullet ever designed for the express purpose of killing people.
It was a result of police officers complaining that their .38's weren't functioning well enough in putting down perpetrators and in self-defense scenarios.

Smith and Wesson came back with some revolver designs, .38's that had been modified to fire a hotter cartridge, and thus it was that we invented the first cartridge that was undeniably designed for the express purpose of putting people in the dirt. You could argue that rifled muskets and their shot, or the gatling gun, or cannon, were expressly made for the purpose of killing folks...but they were all approximations of "Yeah I think this would probably kill someone".

The .357 magnum was the earliest cartridge that I know of that was designed based on feedback from people shooting people and not getting the results they wanted.

So if you're looking for something for CC, why settle for anything else?

.357 is shit compared to .45 in terms accuracy and handling out of basically any handgun (including them awesome colt .45s), I guess you can startle someone with .357 but you can do the same thing with .45 and not miss or you can get a mag fed .45 like a non-retard if 9mm is too pussy for home defense.

But you're better off with a shotgun if you want to startle intruders and don't mind holes in everything.

.45 has the same history, especially the .455 stuff with the british and the .45 colt; but also has the added benefit of not being completely shit. .455 was also introduced before .357, so technically you're wrong on the account of .357 being the first bullet made to kill people. British officers wanted it to put down people rushing them in africa that could eat those older shitty handgun bullets. .357 is overcompensation shit and was phased out pretty quickly.

Seriously, this is basic wikipedia shit, get learned instead of watching dirty harry an0n3.

Whoops, guess I skipped a history lesson.

Where are you getting the half-truths on cartridge comparisons?

>.357 is shit compared to .45 in terms of accuracy

Not in any way. .357mag has flatter trajectory and higher velocity, extending its range of effectiveness way beyond .45ACP. It's simple physics, a .357magnum round is a smaller projectile with more powder behind it, while the .45ACP is a larger round with less powder.

>and handling

True. But we're comparing extreme ends of the spectrum here...that should be a given. An autoloading pistol frame firing a subsonic cartridge vs. a revolver frame firing a magnum cartridge. No shit.

>blah blah blah home defense

Nobody was talking about home defense. I was talking about CC on the streets. Using anything but a shotgun in a home defense scenario is risky as fuck. You want something that's got low velocity with high mass, so you can put someone down on the ground without having to worry about rounds penetrating through your walls or overpenetrating your target and killing your spouse/kids/neighbors.

.45 is better for concealed carry too, which is why I recommended a colt officer's model. Revolvers are bulky and shit compared to automatics and there's plenty of decent compact .45s in the 1911 style that aren't shit (unless they're kimbers which are way overrated as you said).

People have been having these arguments for years but it's usually over 9mm vs .45 for concealed carry, I never thought I'd see someone recommend dirty harry. Personal preference at that point, but I'd still take .45 since I'm most practiced on shooting it accurately. I've honestly only shot .357 out of a really really nice modern revolver once and it was too much for me and not something I can imagine pulling out on a moment's notice to take out that person with a different skin color than me with a knife.

.45ACP doesn't defeat body armor or car doors.

Just imagine you're walking down the street when a man wearing a car door on suspenders approaches you. He rolls the window down and speaks
"Gimme your fuckin' money".
