Turned into schizophrenic confetti by years of "Ohh yeah, this PR is hilarious! My le sides are in le orbit, so it's DEFFO getting a merge" > feedback effect where maintainers only make joke content because they know that's what gets automerged > expectation is set that joke content will be regularly created & merged > vicious cycle > rinse, lather, repeat. Ten years later and what used to be a noir crime game became a clusterfuck of outdated memes and nonsensical "hilarity" that dilutes the game to the point where homeopathic medicinists might consider prescribing TGstation's codebase to cure all ailments.

Just take a step back and look at the volume of high-quality content the goons made. Their developer team is microscopic by comparison. How did they do it? They stopped making retarded joke content (read: poo) and started developing their codebase like they were making a video game.


Every aspect of TGstation's culture has this weird cultish aura where no one dares to be serious or honest about anything because they're afraid of having their genuine efforts rebutted, and it's fucking obnoxious.
