It's the best way to lower climate emissions. Taking into account lifecycle emissions, nuclear has a smaller carbon footprint than most "green" energy sources while also being much more reliable- especially considering the advent of small modular reactors and soon-to-be commercially available generation IV reactors. Here's the thing about the 2nd amendment. It was made to protect citizens against their own government in the event it became tyrannical - cuz like, that's sorta what happened to the founders when they were under British rule. Can the US military wipe out every single gun owner with tanks and helicopters? Yeah duh. Does the principle that gave rise to gun rights care about this? No.

Also a gunfight against your own citizens is prolly pretty bad PR regardless.
