A second coming of Timber has a 0 probability so it was a safe statement to make.
I don't think this is true, I reckon Timber, if they were to run, would very likely win the admin vote.

If Timber were running I would not run as I don't think I could do as good a job as them
If they are not running then there is a zero probability of a second coming of Timber you lemon.
I would disagree but I can't since this is literally impossible to not be true.

I would not pick timber next time, timber has done some very funny things (Having a player play ban Russian Roulette for example) that I don't want to see in a headmins team constantly. Every once in a while? Sure.

But who would I pick? Would depend on what their campaigns are next time of course! I did like raves campaign last time and voted highly for him, but he isn't active enough in the forums for my liking.

If I had to choose I would pick rave, but we will see next campaign season! (I have been liking conrads posts in the forum for example! maybe id vote for him if he campaigns and if his campaign is good!)

also In that AI generated image the paper being both infront of and behind the character with the messed up hand is bothering me very much.

I'm very, very unlikely to ever run consecutive terms. I'm not a status quo headmin.

I also dislike candidates that run on maintaining the status quo. I understand they're necessary for stability, but /tg/touchgrass's mission statement is change. The codebase changes. The playerbase changes. The admin team changes. The leadership needs to be flexible and looking to change with it, to continue keeping us relevant as a server base.

I only run when the status quo is annoying me and I want to try/see/experiment with different ideas, approaches and ways of working. Or when I see problems I want to try and address.

To be honest, it says a lot about the adminteam that so many would vehemently oppose Lukas as an admin, before he even ran, petitioning tooth and nail to keep him off the team because of X view and Y reason, and Z politics, or maybe just “don’t loik’ ‘em,” and yet once he joins, literally by force I might add due to playervote, surprise surprise, he’s a great admin, perfectly capable of functioning as one, which should just go to show you the opinion of the ivory tower gossipers really says absolutely nothing about anything except their own preconceived gatekeep biases to their club.

The way so many of them turned 180 once he became headmin too (their boss) — “I was doubtful at first, but…” it’s the same story with so many others. If it’s not sickly simpering backtracking then it’s proof of the adminteam’s absolute intolerance to welcome anyone with views that go against the grain. At least without kicking and screaming — it’s gross either way you slice it.

If admins started adminning people who simply would make good admins, and not people they just personally wanted in their club, the servers would be populated with tons of great candies pretty much round-the-clock.

I thInk I agree with you. What a bizarre feeling. Kieth should've been adminned through the normal process, he's clearly proved he's good enough. That this didn't happen was a failure of the headminship of the day.

That being said I'd rather we miss out on some good admins than let in some bad admins, if that makes sense.

Yeah but you let me in so what does that tell you about the process?

Kieth's been rejected by multiple headmin terms for multiple reasons. Including my previous term, where I drafted up the application denial response.

First thing I did when I got the opportunity this term was explain to Kieth some of the background and context about how and why he got rejected for admin in the past, so he understood the concerns and worries about him that a vocal minority of admins had expressed going forwards. And it was a vocal minority of admins, but that's often enough for a single headmin to torpedo their chances.

It's Ctrl-C Ctrl-V of a classic tale. To become an admin, you don't need any friends on the team. We pick up random people all the time.

But you do need to have no people opposing you. If the people opposing you are loud enough or well connected enough, it usually only takes 1 headmin to block you becoming an admin.

We have a few past and present admins that are on the team because either the people that disliked them retired/became inactive, or headmin terms got sick of hearing stories about shit done years ago that was never repeated and stopped listening to the naysayers.

I was very much in favour of adminning you, bite me.
Timberpoes wrote: Sun Aug 06, 2023 9:12 pm snip
This is an extremely great summary of how the adminship process works and its shortcomings. You're completely correct, you don't need friends, but you do need to not have enemies. For the non-admins here, even a trial admin's opinions along the lines of "I dunno, I've been in a shift or two where they've been a bit shit" is a -1 vote. If any admin hates you they can almost certainly block your candidacy forever

As someone who has made an incidental hobby of pissing off admins, for my fans: my candidacy is hereby postponed until year 2123 when the final admintrainer that was alive to witness my forumposts has died off.

we need more ((wo)man)children who cant handle power on the adminteam. TG mainsail admins are getting mogged by TGMC admins, god that peanut with the admin pfp swapping was so funny. Tg already has the ivroy tower reputation so its not like your losing anything from adding some childish morons and letting them embarass themselves. Then again its been years since ive been to the ss13 subdig so my only reference for interserver relations is /ss13g/ which is primarily staffed by those permabanned circa 2017 and who will forever have an axe to grind with admins who are longsince inactive
