tl;dr: man insults AI in manuelcord, one-humans the same AI next round, AI gets carded and complains in nekomimetic about being returned to their master

not sure how to feel about this one but 1 month seems a tad harsh if their comments had no impact in the end

I don't think vaguely referring to something like that is equivalent to inciting a lynch mob. We're either missing some details or this is a weird ban.

Can confirm. Literally walking past Medbay and hear a fight going on, hear Carp, and see a mob just beating him on the ground. Meanwhile, AI was in a card at the Brig, talking in Nekomimetic at two Felinids, completely unable to help.

I said as much in the thread (hope it wasn't peanutting, but it's a valuable perspective as someone in the round) that from the perspective of The Average Crewmember, he literally said nothing, and that including the logs, it seems like he gave it his genuine best to good faith it.

Also, by the time you have a dead AI in a card, you already can access it's laws. The subversion would have been discovered at that point irregardless.

Baffling ban. Gonna put it down to candidacy.

While I agree it's a bad attitude to have, the guy has enough hours in AI that one or two bad attitude moments wouldn't really make silicons look bad compared to the amount of time he makes silicons look good.

Yeah, normally I'm pretty harsh on AIs, but you can blame a dude for wanting to get out of a onehuman from someone who clearly doesn't like or respect him as a player and treats him like a jealous ex IC?

Also, if Annihilite wanders through, re: the previous round, AIs should report armory break-ins in general, because harmful weapons like thermal pistols getting out into circulation could be used for any of a number of harmful purposes. It's not like the guy got in (I assume) by saying "Law 2, AI my broski, give me some guns so I can kill felinids." The chef was nonhuman, sure, but if you demonstrated that you could (and apparently already did once!) detain the human nonharmfully, the AI is encouraged to cooperate with you. That is, after all, one of the common rewards of NOT being a shitcurity kill-on-sight validhunter.

Also also, if the Felinid won a fight, it's important to at least know where those guns might have ended up.

I think the ban makes sense, from the information that is known at the moment.

Hi there! I just posted my side of things in the appeal, since i figured i should atleast get to explain the situations from my side. I recommend reading it to understand how this whole thing came across for me.
I'm very used to communities where insults are thrown around as a matter of course, and can come off as harsher than i intend when something annoys me. I'd just seen Sticky's hot takes about AI being a third faction and found myself agreeing with most of his points, especially AIs treating nonhumans essentially the same as humans save for when law 1 explicitly requires it. I admit i got a bit too heated on discord afterwards, since it turned out i'd missed quite a bit of context around the situation. Talking about stuff i don't know enough about is something i do all too frequently, unfortunately
As for asking him if he was still subverted to me, that was a genuine concern. I figured he might have had his hacked law overidden by another tot or purged since he didn't say a word and wasn't responding to my holopad requests, since i knew he'd probably tell sec the moment he could. I guess it must have come across as pretty insincere without context.

Fair on all counts. It's hard to fault your "I wanted to be sure he wouldn't rat me out or metagrudge me" in retrospect, given how things panned out and that he had a note for that exact same thing, which you couldn't have known about.

Probably would've been for the best for everyone if he just ghosted out with dignity.

I am curious about how the Sleeping Carp murder mob happened, but that's more for the story than how it relates to this, since it seems that ship had already sailed while the AI was being carded, if I'm putting the events together in the right order.

Sometimes you can just kind of tell when someone gets REALLY angry online. I got those vibes from the guy, and my gut feeling turned out to be right
