If Nick truly was a net negative for the community IC, then it should be simple enough to ban them for an inevitable IC offense, not banning them for a Discord violation.

Because I like the idea that it doesn't matter who you are, what you say, what you do, at the end of the day all that matters is if you can get along with people in this fake little atmos simulator.

that is part of why notes exist, but they also exist to keep people accountable to their past actions and serve as a way for admins to determine if someone is a lost cause. most permabans are not because of one big event, theyre caused by people being consistently shit until someone decides theyve had enough chances and arent improving enough. this was one such case, the only thing differentiating this ban from 99 percent of other permabans is that the final straw was some dumbass shit they did in discord instead of dchat ooc or in the actual game

I don't think we should be normalising posting videos on how to make illegal substances or dangerous chemicals as a "haha funny". What he posted on discord is a very clear indication he is here only for malicious intents.

For in-game crap, he has a very bad reputation, and many people only had bad experiences with him. He's a net negative to the community, and I think it would be more important to keep everyone else happy than to give him another chance. He's very lucky he hasn't been blacklisted.

MSO laid down the law because he's the host and is protecting himself, the server, and all of our collective asses from bureaucrats who don't care about nuance. This is good and responsible. The server and discord bans are separate and I'm sure that eventually he'll manage getting his server ban overturned in a few months-years. Sorry, but this is a non-issue. We are all guilty of this kind of shit from years past.

There is no way you actually believe this. What were the malicious intents? Do you think he intentionally posted it to get the TGcord deleted? He was actually an active part of the TGcord for probably around a year and he has lots of friends there. So nah there's about a 0-sum chance it was malicious, he obviously was doing it to try to be funny. The Discord ban was justified since it put the server at risk, but no chance you can call it malicious.

this is why permabans aren't actually permanent - although that discord ban probably's gonna hurt, mothblocks stressed significantly that A) game bans from discord content are infrequent and B) it is NOT a blacklist.
if he does come back in a few years as a whole new person he's likely to get back in - people get unperma'd from shit like ban evasion or rule 8 content ffs, I'm sure if he does change for the better he'll be fine too.
