sleepy carp thread

Post by blackdav123 » #641099

sleeping carp is kinda bad but very very fun, so i want to ask what strategies work best with it?

i have been trying to use tile-fu with it and have had decent results

keeping distance definitely helps prevent death by stun baton, and having throw mode on more helps with blocking bullets and such

throwing box and origami definitely pair best with it, along with any other passive items like noslips and thermals

share epic carpy tips please

I bet the throwing kit is going to get nerfed with a TC cost bump because in the right hands its possibly to kill a crowd really easy. Shoot just one throwing star can be enough but man you hit someone with two? Goodnight gamer.

Since people seem to be focused on the play window and reading text there its fuckin damn near stealth too, and if they do catch you throwin shit? Just let them chase you and they bleed out. Zero travel time stealth projectile that causes massive blood loss wounds. Then as it turns out if medbay has a pile of bloodless pincushions its really difficult for people to get back on their feet.

Crazy you can get six kits. I think there is four stars per kit? Maybe two, still 24 stars or 48 stars its spicy and more bolas and papyrus planes than one could ever throw.

Sleeping carp plus emag. Then go to space and find an ayy tool. Have another tot necro revive you and brainwash you to not crave brains. You are now a near immortal regenerating horror capable of reflecting your only counter (projectiles), and the only way to permanently kill you is to shuttlegib or cremate your ass. Considering that you also turn your victims into undead monsters, people arent likely to have the time to do that either.
If your tator buddy did xenobio you can stack adamantine or SWAT armor and stab red extract on that along with stab purple for more heals.
Get a scooter to move faster too.
Alternatively, you can get the antigrav module and an ion jetpack. You're now faster than humans

Sleeping carp reflection only works if you have an empty hand, and zombie claws technically occupy both hands, making deflection impossible. You can still also just be stuncuffed, and ion jetpacks are slower than the backpack ones.

Sleeping carp + northstar gloves can probably kill even a baton user before they get 2 hits in.
Throwing kit is very good as well.

Generally you wanna start with a crashing wave kick (harm disarm) angled at a wall to cause a wallstun, and then you should be able to kill them with gnashing teeth (harm harm) or more crashing wave kicks. If you get a single wallstun in you've probably won, regardless of if you have northstar. If you have northstar you can kill with just harm incredibly fast.

To add to this, northstar does allow for killing a baton user before they can get two hits in assuming perfect timing for both, though this may not be true for people with armor and very high mood.

If you are using northstar gloves do not use keelhaul as grabs are not sped up by it so it is not worth missing out on the bonus.

Wavecrashing a person into a wall deals about 60 damage allowing you to kill them in 4 more punches, and the same goes for crashing two people into eachother, and north star gloves additionally allow you to get these 4 punches in before the first person is unstunned, and even get two in on the second guy.

set *flip as your battlecry to totally flip on some crewies

After its nerf carp was pretty bad, but progression traitor made it good again IMO since you can now get more TC to stack it with items that make it more useful like syndi modsuit for armor, northstar gloves for super fast punches, throwing kits for a ranged damage/knockdown option, ect.

Unless they changed it recently you can reflect projectiles as a zombie. Source: i've done it.

Only thing to keep in mind is you can't use modsuits with northstar gloves because the modsuit will cover the hand-slot and negate them.
