if you're gonna roll then be subtle about it fucks sake - i get that its cringe and all but for real a insta-permaban? even if he openly admitted to it i think thats a bit much maybe a a day ban or a note stating that they've been warned about it sounds better.

It is something you do with great intent though. It's not a clever loop hole nobody else ever thought of, it's something that every player has to think about - is it fair to only play when you're antag and never be the fodder for others who got lucky? It is not a heat of the moment decision, it's calculated. Lying on top of that makes it even more calculated.

To be fair the permanent ban duration is probably better than a temporary one. Temporary one suggests that you go play on a different server for a while, possibly antag roll there, while permanent comes with the expectation that you rack up some normal rounds here. It's more a question of how much activity is demanded to lift the ban, which shouldn't really be terribly high, given that it's not fair to make someone play when they can't be more than wizard fodder.

Maybe just dont antag roll and steal job slots from others just so you can roll the funny text then die shortly after due to your inability to not be caught doing sussy stuff.

I mean nothing would be lost by perma banning him, but the antag ban makes it sweeter because it's so lovely just.

Also he doesn't even understand that antag rolling isn't a victimless crime and decreases everyone else's chance of getting antag, especially when you do it systematically like him on multiple servers.

Do you really need social intelligence if its all about you?

most bans yeah you're not losing anything its just -1 player really. Unless by "losing anything" you mean they were a net negative player who made the game worse.

i just hate it when people say "we're not losing anything with them gone"

what justifies a ban length would be a few things like (atleast to me)
1. can they improve from this? (yes or no)
2. do they have a big history or no history?
3. was this punishment to excessive?

Three months could be considered generous for a role where you will not always have the opportunity to play it. To have the same impact, that means having a longer duration to weigh out to the same number of lost opportunities.

This is a call to action. As I said in our ahelps, I wanted to see nonantagonist play from you. If I could give you a ban based on living nonantagonist hours, I would. If I could say "play 150 living nonantagonist hours and you can be an antag again," I would. Unfortunately, I don't have an option to perform that kind of automation; so I am asking you, as politely as I can given your attitude towards this situation, to play the game correctly and then appeal once you have.

They are free to appeal in the future.

I do mean that. People who actively take away other chances of being antags make the game worse for the rest of us. I just can't imagine someone with that attitude contributing positively to the game, especially someone who also just flat out lies about what they did.

Ah, gotcha!

I'm not about to jump on that boat and say something like that either, regardless of how I feel about what drove their decision to roll.

This isn't someone who did this once or twice, he did this systematically on multiple servers. I would argue it is more disruptive than much of the other in game behaviour that nets you a permaban.

He was in Sybil a couple of nights ago talking in OOC how antag is the only way to have fun, I saw this ban coming. As for saying this is his first time (getting caught) antag rolling, a player with a 2016 account knows better than to do this.

The intention of the ban is to force the player to play as non-antag for a couple of weeks and then appeal. Read the following: “ When you can demonstrate continuous faithful play as a nonantagonist, appeal this ban.”

Many times when we hand out timed antag bans the player in question will just stop playing and then come back after their ban. Permanent antag bans with a push to appeal is the correct approach.

Agreed with perma antag ban. If he comes back in a month with 30 rounds played (average of one a day) I'm fine with the appeal at that time, but a timed ban will just have him wait it out and antag roll again.

Good time to go play security for him imo.

anyone who utters the phrase "I only like antag" or "I only play antag" should be permabanned, don't @me
