I went looking through their old posts because I felt like this wasn't the first time something like this happened. Instead I found an appeal from Hathkar and shivered at the name.

I've also still not forgiven Dax for showing up as a captain on Lowpop Latenight Terry when there was a mediocre but highly engaged fight and gunning down the crew with their own tommyguns.

Maybe Dax really didn't do anything bad this time, but it's nice to see something happen to them. That story I mentioned in Keith's Election Thread about an admin who absolutely should have gotten in trouble, and other admins I've spoken to even agreed that they should have, was Dax.

Personally, I think we're gonna find out a lot more information here that makes the situation worse than they're portraying it, if my experience with 'em is anything to go by.

This is where the rules were broken. Not the permabrigging for being a shitter, no, searching someone who's not connected to the fucking game and might've just lagged out or had to get up for a moment is a massive dick move when the alternative is 'just dont touch them lol'.
The permabrigging was justified based on the shittery the mime was pulling. have better mime gimmicks than "i am a greytider that wears black and white, doesn't talk, and can conjure invisible walls at will" please.
Personally, I name myself 'the mad hatter' and throw random hats on peoples' heads, often stealing theirs if they drop one. If i'm a traitor, the hat then explodes, usually not dealing enough damage to kill the person.

It's a good thing that's a very different situation from "I was disconnected before security showed up and now i'm in handcuffs when I reconnect," and can be accounted for. Doing anything harmful to someone who's SSD is a huge dick move and you cannot convince me otherwise. I will die on this hill.

I don't understand adipems issue around "perma on second offense" when the mime tabled the cap and tried to steal their bag which very likely had Grand Theft level items.

But permaing an ssd person is obviously shitty and any admin should know better, not sure how that's just a note

Who gives a flying fuck if they were SSD? Arrest them and they can respond to their charges when they reconnect, from the warmth of a jail cell. That's what I would and will do in that situation.

I dont think just because you go ssd that means no one can interact with you. The person in this case even gave the already tiding mime a chance to earn what little good will they could get back by searching them and guess what, they were making bombs. At the end of the day if you get dced and come back jailed or dead just come back next round.

That exact situation that Dup was in is stressful, because the right thing to do is not accepted (killing the mime and tossing it out the airlock). So that leaves you with a perma shitter on standby that you can't touch, and dealing with that just is no fun.
The fact that this one even made bombs and it just gets glossed over by the admin is terrifying. Something has to change!

Remove SEC as a department, give the captain a big safe on the bridge with the current contents of the armory that unlocks when it's code red to fight war ops or whatever.

SSD is no defense against being arrested for widely known crimes.

SSD people have protection against being randomly fucked with for the lolz (id stolen, sec checking their bags because they cant complain), not against serious justified business like being a kill target or security coming to bust your ass for some big crime (like, I dunno, trying to poison the captain then breaking into chem to make a bunch of acid smoke grenades).

Is it a little lame to lose connection then come back to having been busted? Sure. But its also lame to get urgently called away IRL to give someone a lift and come back to find your character in jail. As long as people arent specifically targeting people for being disconnected, there shouldnt be an issue.

Perhaps the Mime, if they wanted not to be arrested while SSD, shouldn't have self-antagged.
