Idrc about the intention behind the 15min (spare me, this was 15min, not 24hr); if you fill in an admin complaint because the Host muted you for 15min as he tried to explain something to you, you really gotta grow some thicker skin.

It's important to highlight that this one-day ban was lifted 14 minutes later by MSO himself again, so to be fair, it was undone fairly quickly.

I still think it's something that shouldn't be done. Sure you'll get timed out every once in a while as a joke, when it is understood to be in made in jest. This kind of pre-emptive banning though, just to cut people out from a discussion, that violates the trust that we as players put into the administration, even if it's just for a couple of minutes.
You get taken out of the discussion, and you'll look stupid appealing or complaining about it, because oh, it's just a couple of minutes. But the thing you wanted to talk about, that's gone, everyone said their piece, but you couldn't.
And who is to say, you're not going to eat another one if you try to talk about it anyway? It's just bad practice, and it makes you feel like you're living under the thumb of a bunch of cronies.

If you disagree with them, say your opinion and give them a chance to respond, simple as that.

Ignoring the fact nobody can uphold a complaint against MSO, this falls outside of Headmin/Admin jurisdiction anyway because we aren't allowed to jannie the coding channels except for Discord ToS violations.

Whether what MSO did falls in line with what the maintainers expect within the coding channels is something that the maintainer team/headcoders have to consider and as a result what oranges posted is somewhat relevant to the complaint.

As a maintainer, this isn't the first time I've seen MSO wield timeouts in the coding channels in utterly stupid ways. Recall the last time MSO used his powers to win an argument.

It ultimately ended in MSO banning Rohesie from the Discord for the crime of leaving the Discord when Roh was unable to understand MSO and didn't want to deal with the conflict he brought. Rohesie left the maintainer team as a result of this, which is a very good example of how destructive this behavioural trend MSO has can be.

One of the reasons I stopped engaging so much with the codebase is because it brought me directly into MSO's path on more than one occasion. The less I code, the less likely I am to have to deal with MSO. Sometimes he just sucks at communicating then blames you for not understanding.

Ultimately I disagree with using timeout powers in this way. If you feel the need to start muting community members because you've got a tree up your ass about something, then just walk away instead. If walking away isn't an option, then consider why you're dying on a yet another molehill and proclaiming it your grand mountain. Chances are you're being unreasonable and putting others on the defensive, where discussions are antagonistic instead of productive.

Coders and maintainers ignoring the well-being of the community on a mere whim, colour me surprised.

The people defending this are either too stupid to understand ethics or precedent setting behaviour or have some ulterior motive like fucking over goof (which is based.)

MSO is the host so he is allowed to be a dickhead to some extent he runs the place, hosts can infact be like that, its good to see that our host doesn't abuse his power to a (large) extent or treat people like shit

what does goofball expect from this? nobody can surpass the one at the top in the rankings.

for real though if you ever get on too far on the bad side of the owner in literally any establishment, then it probably won't end too well for you.
