Commenting the nerd emoji is so overused and cringe at this point. I thought it was genuinely funny at the beginning, but at this point, anything logical (aka incomprehensible for Gen Z) has replies of only the nerd emoji. I am so sick of it. As a society, we should actually try to listen to the counter-arguments from others and try to learn from it, especially when someone brings up a point that just completely destroys our own. Can we all just agree that this nerd emoji is cringe?

Hearing about starsector on the forums got me to give the game another go and I've been playing it a lot the last few weeks. Now I've got a lot of those midline cruisers. I really like the way they look, especially the 14th battlegroup ones. Not sure about capital ships though. At first I thought nearly all of them didn't look that great, but after looking at the details they're not all that bad. The legion looks pretty neat but I already have my heron carriers. I think I might try to find an onslaught somewhere eventually. I've started colonizing the system I was planning on taking. I've got the planet names and most of the industries already planned out. Hopefully the system can eventually sustain itself at least a little bit.

@ Conrad re: your conquest battleship - drop the typhoon reapers for squalls, have devastators on one side and storm needlers on the other (or go balls to the wall with devas on both sides)
your maneuvering jets are to help you flip after overloading a big target, squalls are good for hitting big targets, devastators are good for hitting big targets
capital/station-killer conquest.

Alternatively, come up with your own build but seriously drop the mjol for literally any other ballistic, mjols suck compared to the other specialized options for a conquest

Keep moving as midline's schtick is "you stay alive through mobility" instead of low-tech's "you stay alive through armor" or high-tech's "you stay alive through shielding"

Omega I don't have any of that lmao. Thanks for the suggestions though. Also, I like my reapers. It's an instant "Fuck you" to any ship on overload.
My current run is pre-colony.

I have plans for builds once I get the colony rolling. My schtick is going disco ball with high techs once I find/build a Paragon, but for now we're a salvage fleet

EDIT: I am a moron that thought the Dominator was midline since it's yellow :v

I would use the XIV dominator if it didn't look like ass. All the other XIV stuff looks great, and I love how the low-tech/XIV battlegroup doctrine works (dakka and armor, with strategic use of shields to counteract beams and high explosives that shred armor) Iron Shell my beloved.

Very nice, very stylish, bold black and orange paint scheme. 10/10 would use as a fleet anchor.

Looks like ass, you can see the old low-tech paint scheme underneath, it literally looks like those pirate/luddic versions of civilian vessels that get painted red/green respectively. 0/10 see me after class.

If the Iron Shell XIV Eradicator didn't exist then I might be forced to use some of those ugly-as-sin XIV dominators.
