my most played/favorite classes are scout engineer and demoman
i have spent 2300 hours on this game
my favorite map is dustbowl despite (or maybe because of) how horribly chokepointy it is

Pyro, really enjoyed using the flare gun.
Steam says I only have 1.4k but that's incorrect. At one point my hours got reset? (Or reduced) I had around 2.3k at some point.
90% of payload maps are great. KoTH too.
It would be stupid if they didn't update it. Might take them awhile, though. Tf2 is basically a finished game anyway, outside of fixing the anti-cheat it doesn't really need new content.

Spent quiet a lot of money on items, somehow ended up making more than I spent, played comp a few times, made a few friends, learnt how to play all classes well and much more.
I spent years playing just Tf2 but I don't play it anymore for a mixture of reasons.

No real favourite, I played a bit of everything but if you forced me to pick one, Medic because I love being the factor that decides the outcome of a fight.
200 hours, haven't played it in a couple years sadly though I should really fix that
I was a 24/7 2Fort Server enjoyer
They've said they're planning an update this year, if memory serves?

I like playing engineer. I'm not very good at it but my sentry helps shoot things for me. If a game has a character that lets you build cool turrets that shoot stuff for you it's the only character that I will play.
690 hours. I played it a lot when I was a kid and I still remember the day I found out engineers could get metal from dispensers and ammo packs. Before that I thought I had to kill enemies for their weapon pickups and could never manage to build more than one or two buildings.
Mann Manor is probably my favorite map, lots of fun spots to hide in. I don't know why but there's something very appealing about low-traffic map spots that have no business existing gameplay-wise.
Maybe there will be an update again, who knows.

also me and a friend got matching strange half-zatoichi's so that we could duel as demoknights and instakill eachother on near-empty trade servers and he's AHEAD OF ME BY LIKE 150 KILLS

A toss between the Aztlan and Askonia Star Systems. The Hegemony contact in Coatl is dope, but Sindia is PACKED with people and goods.

We get those on the regular, every couple of years, and mods are maintained quite well.

Used to love tf2, then matchmaking and such came out and it kinda killed my desire to play it. Then a steadily growing core of “not hacking but just really good” snipers have pretty much killed my desire to play the game further. It’s a shame since I’ve played tf2 for nearly a decade now. Turns out balancing something around “surely people won’t dedicate 1,000 hours to become good at this, right?” isn’t a good balancing decision when it’s the only long range class in a game full of short to midrange combat.

My favorite class is usually medic. I like seeing a push and thinking “yeah, I helped make this.”

Last I checked I had about 2,000 hours in the game. Most of my hours were gained from 2013-2015/2016-ish.

I'm kinda torn between 2fort and Upwards. 2fort is objectively a terrible map but sometimes I like to fight in a giant clusterfuck death match that goes on for two hours. I enjoy upwards since it's one of the first maps I played but I've tended to play it a lot less because defending snipers have some absurd positions they can stand in to kill people.

No, there won't be any substantial updates for the foreseeable future. Valve realized that it can piss directly into the community’s mouth, and there are still enough morons that will drink every drop and thank them for the opportunity.

upward and 24/7 hightower is good

update was just confirmed too but it probably wont be as big as the community is hyping

They actually had to backpedal on what the blog post said because people were hyping it up too much. They changed the wording to "holiday-sized update" which is code for "we randomly picked a bunch of hats, taunts, possibly a map that we haven't tested, and some unusual effects." All off the steam workshop, of course. Heaven forbid that a company valued in the billions spend anything more for this game that is raking in probable millions a year with a player base in the hundreds of thousands.

I just want all the weapons to be viable to use. Even before the push for Comp, valve had a fairly large pile of weapons that are either entirely useless or are just downgrades. Speaking of, Valve made a few weapons useless to appease the fickle masses of comp players, and then the casual community was left with the trash as the comp players went back to their hugboxes where that shit was already banned and continued to stay banned. Never forget how some weapons were nerfed specifically based on feedback from high-tier comp players then all the comp leagues preceded to keep said offending weapons banned even after the nerf that THEY ASKED FOR. 12v12 and 6v6 being perfectly balanced without tweaked weapon stats depending on if it's casual or comp is impossible for certain weapons. Uncle Dane is a moron for suggesting otherwise. Trickle-down balance doesn't apply to a lot of weapons.

The Meet Your Match update and its consequences have been a disaster for the TF2 race.

Sorry. Thinking about the state of modern TF2 gets me saltier than the goddamn dead sea.

Good luck if it's any of those maps where the payload or the last control point are anywhere near spawn. The snipers will just sit right by the spawn door then run away if they're in any actual danger. The only time I've seen "just flank lmao" work is either if the map is a symmetric CP like 5cp gorge and you happen to catch the sniper with his pants down on the way to the frontlines, or that the enemy's frontline is so tattered and the enemy team is so incompetent that you can do it more than once or twice. Even then, good snipers will usually spend most of their time hovering around the main part of the team since even if they die, it's almost certain the spy will also die afterward, or even get spotted before being able to go for a stab in the first place.

99% of the time its a skill issue and thats ok. A person that puts 100000 hours into sniper will be a god at the class. This person will still be a god if they put that time on another class and a soldier/demo with the same amount of hours will pubstomp even worse because then you really wont have an answer when they break the videogame to fly at 100 mph and 2 shot everyone.

If they're alone (good snipers can opt for this if they have a NASTY angle) a spy/scout/any flanker should be killing them consistently, if they go razorback to do this just shoot them lol its a waste of a slot if you arent playing near your team

If they are playing around their team just harass the sniper, and if they are any good you can save an uber or coordinate (gl on casual though lol) a push. Good soliders / demos shouldnt have too much of a problem since they have tools to dive a sniper and if they dont have to dive the medic there isnt really a much better option

If the sniper is just cracked and hitting everything or even worse their team has a combined IQ of >50 and give him help you may just be fucked and it happens, but it would be the same scenario if a god tier soldier or demo was placed on the other team instead of a god tier sniper

Sniper benefits from the chaos of casual but he isnt broken lol, especially when these two menaces are still in the game

comp leagues just externally ban weapons and reskins lol the balance changes arent for them

The sniper is moving for two reasons. 1. He was threatened. 2. He saw your medic take a flank and followed him. No good sniper gives up pick consistency just to maybe get an extra kill.

An uber isn't just used to kill all the badmen. You use an uber to establish your presence on the objective. If your team isn't doing that, no shit you're going to have problems.

This makes him much easier to kill. For example, you'd be able to kill him during an uber charge as he wouldn't be able to escape while pushing. He's taking a risk and becoming slightly stronger, nothing wrong with that.

sniper is so fucking obnoxious to play against. every time i get killed by a sniper i switch to stock sniper just to teach them to sit the fuck down. other than that i love playing huntsman sniper. classic sniper is hilarious i respect it

epic spy players using kunai and dead ringer think they’re good at the game and the only times they’re able to kill me is when i’m like bored out of my mind or walking out of spawn. i make sure to chase these morons down across the map every time just to annoy them. gun spies are hilarious and i occasionally play gun spy (THE REVOLVER IS TERRIFYING) (RIP AMBASSADOR)

pyro can just make soldiers and demomen unable to play the game. but everything else about pyro is fine methinks. i like playing shotgun pyro.

except fuck the scorch shot and flare gun bro they buffed the afterburn damage from 3 to 4 but never made the fire last shorter so if you get hit by either you lose like 110 health

i wish i could play shotgun pyro but i am physiologically and mentally incapable of dropping the detonator

once you master detonator jumps the added mobility for flanks is simply too good to ever think about playing without to me

tbf id love if there was a server mod or something that added a fourth weapon slot for some classes who have multiple very different secondary options because it feels like its hard to justify not taking jarate over smg, sandvich over heavy shotgun, shotgun over soldier banner, etc, but it'd probably break balance

any time i play sn*per i like picking the machina so i can get fully charged bodyshot kills and watch as the hyper sweats start frothing at the mouth saying how im playing the class wrong and that i have no skill (this is true)

i always run full on stock soldier because whipping out the shotgun and making pyros and scouts drop like flies is great. they never expect it and they very quickly learn to respect me

i wish i could play shotgun pyro but i am physiologically and mentally incapable of dropping the detonator

once you master detonator jumps the added mobility for flanks is simply too good to ever think about playing without to me

tbf id love if there was a server mod or something that added a fourth weapon slot for some classes who have multiple very different secondary options because it feels like its hard to justify not taking jarate over smg, sandvich over heavy shotgun, shotgun over soldier banner, etc, but it'd probably break balance
The burst damage is really nice, it removes that sort of timer you have on killing someone once you have the flames on them. Can sorta make up for the mobility with the powerjack and clever jumping, at least on maps where the jumps are more horizontal then vertical.

There's also a few spots you can det jump using the normal flaregun. I don't remember them all but there's (two?) on badwater.

The sniper is moving for two reasons. 1. He was threatened. 2. He saw your medic take a flank and followed him. No good sniper gives up pick consistency just to maybe get an extra kill.

An uber isn't just used to kill all the badmen. You use an uber to establish your presence on the objective. If your team isn't doing that, no shit you're going to have problems.

This makes him much easier to kill. For example, you'd be able to kill him during an uber charge as he wouldn't be able to escape while pushing. He's taking a risk and becoming slightly stronger, nothing wrong with that.

Dumb sniper main spotted either that or devils advocate. He's definitely extremely busted it's just that many people are mediocre, I've played a shit ton of sniper and I've played competitively. Other then the whole class balance thing TF2 is rad and I gotta get around to playing it again.

EDIT: Decided this post was pointless. This isn't a thread to discuss how balanced sniper is (There's countless others on this topic, one was made on steam only a few days ago) and I don't want to ruin the thread with arguments.

if you are getting spanked by a sniper a good tip is to disconnect and hope matchmaking works better for you

the 1% of god tier snipers are either playing highlander (9v9) or spending all their time on aimlab or csgo (where they can see actual reward for being a good sniper in a comp shooter)

anyways time to judge cosmetics so this doesnt turn into a balance argument thread

I've actually finally just started playing the game with some pals after 18536 years of never touching it.

Been playing heavy and getting praise for doing well, having good positioning, making good space, winning, whatever. Just approaching it the same way I would tank in any other class shooter.

Like less than ten hours.

Idk we've been on Uncletopia against tryhards/comp players/sweats or whatever idk dude I don't know where I am.

I will say I tried the in game matchmaking and immediately cringed at the existence of random crits. Anti-competitive breakpoint ruining garbage right there. Never touching that again.

It's very easy to turn my brain off in the game and just autopilot.

But then again I'm a sweatlord in shooters.
