The healing vigilantes are quite annoying. No. We do not want your healing bees. We do not want your goodzu. We do not want healium. We do not want your heal patch.

There's a fucking job and department with talented people designated for healing people, and forbsome fuckingn reason people still think they must spread their healig bullshitbto creew.

Antways the bee person was a fail RPer. Did not think about allergies in a fucking hospital at all. Yikes!

i've looked over this a few times to formally form the opinion that while there is nothing wrong with the note being placed- i think any admin would place a note for it, i know i certainly would- i think the note should be removed upon deep investigation.

now the botanist comes in, and stops drag from destroying the apiary further. however... at this point, they had already destroyed the apiary. at least that's what I understand with the queen bee being able to attack vex here:

the defense of "they should have just moved the bees" is a flimsy one, when they had only been told once- very aggressively as an order rather than an ask- at which they responded to with a reasonable retort. no attempts at reaching a middle ground were made. they went straight to destroying the botanist's harmless- helpful, even- work.

now the logs below is just the fight logs, because im not commentating on every part of the fight but i will rather summarize the logs here so that you don't have to read them like i did:

- more shoving, Jadyn (the cmo) flashes Leia (the botanist) while also flashing themselves in the process, dropping the flash.
- Leia grabs hold of the flash and flees down to the lower tram
- Jadyn and Vex give chase, Leia goes back to the upper part of the ladder
- Leia grabs hold of the telebaton from Vex, stuns Vex and then tosses them off the catwalk down into the lower tram area (to gtfo them)
- Vex chases Leia all the way to the West side of the tram.
- Vex flashes them and then proceeds to beat them to death with the telebaton, ignores Jadyn telling them "ENOUGH"

to me? this all seems like proper self defense by Leia. Vex exercised poor escalation by killing Leia in the first place. Two wrongs don't make a right, of course, but Nox's view of this situation is completely twisted:
At this point you are tracked down and beaten to death. Which, honestly, seems fine even without the possibility of you being a rev. Security had seemingly said that the issue wasn't a priority, and you had robbed the people involved in the fight.
Leia didn't rob them. Leia had only taken away their tools they were using to assault Leia. Leia never resorted to lethals with the exception of kicking a few times (happens all the time) and tossing Vex off the catwalk (but was very obviously using it as a way to disengage from the fight) - Vex's response to chase them down and then kill them is 100% against escalation policy when they had already gotten the telebaton and flash back.

OK, but does this excuse Leia gunning down Vex? Well they destroyed the botanist's apiary, which is damage that they had caused to the botanist. And they had "tried to murder the botanist a second time" - I've already covered that incident in my previous post. I don't want to go through it again so I will just quote it here:

Now, what about Vex's general attitude about the situation? Well let's look at what Vex themselves thinks about their attitude:
Vex is a really mean and jaded character and he acts like it. It's really hard for me to defend myself when people are treating some bitchass twink who needs to be punted over the nearest fence as my personal mentality.
I do want to extend an apology because I did have a hand in inflating the issue more than it should have.
In my opinion, Vex was being mean, or as Vex likes to call people "a stupid cunt." They inflated the situation and created an IC enemy and they must reap what they sow. Admins should not be protecting IC assholes from IC consequences. Sorry for the long post I just think there's a lot more nuance to this situation than people think and I hope the headmins take all of this information into consideration.

As far as the mean angry IC logs go: admins shouldn’t have to worry about how their fuckin IC logs reflect on them as admins, EVEN IF they were probably mad at least somewhat OOC, it doesn’t matter, they’re not operating in an admin capacity IC.

Flaunting CC status is another story, I can get it can form your character’s backstory especially on an MRP server like Manuel but it’s better to keep the two things separate. If you’re adminning your character can be the jaded Centcom commander and shit on crew, if not they should just be a worker like everyone else. It can come across as trying to flaunt your OOC admin status which makes it a good bit worse than flaunting your IC Centcom commander status.

Also can we take a moment of silence for the fact that this was all over HEALING BEES in medical. Healing bees. Think about it for a bit. If someone dies due to an allergy to a bee sting that is the best possible outcome ever of the allergy quirk.

For the record, the last two messages in those logs were in response to a clown doctor, whom steals Leia’s shoes and pulls them away from medical for a minute or two, which is why Leia comes “out of nowhere” - they had been in the Medbay Lobby for the entire time their healing bees were up. They were able to be reached at any time and had already talked to many medbay staff about it.

I was strictly speaking in a manner of the note/ban appeal affair. Them flaunting their CC status is a completely separate issue than being an IC asshole. I don’t think we should completely sanitize the game where you can’t be an IC asshole but if you are going to intentionally play a “mean and jaded character” “that deserves to be punted over the nearest fence” then you should be willing to live with the IC consequences of it.

This wasn’t directed at anyone in particular, it’s just easy to read some very disagreeable and sharp IC logs and think subconsciously “an admin is saying that?” then form a guttural reaction lynch mob you know, when in reality IC tone is completely irrelevant to actual issues about conduct.

In other words, saying “heya, yeah I work as a centcom commander in my spare time” should be just as much a breach in conduct as “yeah look at the badge fucko,” since the only difference is in tone but both commit the same faux pas in referencing OOC status IC. But the water is muddied since a Centcom commander is an IC role only held by those with an OOC role.

Yeah, the logs I posted showed they only gave out this answer and didn't bother to respond to the CMO saying that "they hurt".
The non-response, coupled with Leia not doing anything, could be interpreted as "the botanist is not going to bother or even explain, so we're removing them ourselves".

That being said, honestly this would sound like normal escalation matters if it weren't for Leia lethaling Vex after both of them shittalking each other, a while after the second conflict that didn't result in death


Per Escalation Policy:
As a non-antagonist you may begin conflict with another player with valid reason (refusal of critical services, belligerent attitude, etc) OR if it does not excessively interfere with their ability to do their job. Whomever you engage is entitled to respond to your actions. If the conflict leads to violence and you had a poor reason for causing conflict in the first place, you may face administrative action.

If you are wronged, you are expected to handle the conflict non-lethally whenever possible, escalating in severity as the conflict continues. As the defending party the rate of escalation increases with you, up to and including violence, while the instigator is always able to respond in kind.

If a conflict leads to violence and either participant is incapacitated, the standing participant is expected to make an effort to treat the other, unless they have reason to believe the other was an antagonist. Once treated the conflict is over; any new conflict with either individual must escalate once again. If you get into a conflict again with that individual, they may be removed permanently from the round.

Conflict is automatically suspended when one participant is dead or incapacitated. A player who uses the state of incapacitation to take further action against the downed party chooses to extend the ongoing conflict past its original endpoint, and opens themselves up to further reprisal to avenge damage or recover stolen possessions.

As a non-antagonist you may begin conflict with another player with valid reason (refusal of critical services, belligerent attitude, etc) OR if it does not excessively interfere with their ability to do their job. Whomever you engage is entitled to respond to your actions. If the conflict leads to violence and you had a poor reason for causing conflict in the first place, you may face administrative action.

If you are wronged, you are expected to handle the conflict non-lethally whenever possible, escalating in severity as the conflict continues. As the defending party the rate of escalation increases with you, up to and including violence, while the instigator is always able to respond in kind.

If a conflict leads to violence and either participant is incapacitated, the standing participant is expected to make an effort to treat the other, unless they have reason to believe the other was an antagonist. Once treated the conflict is over; any new conflict with either individual must escalate once again. If you get into a conflict again with that individual, they may be removed permanently from the round.

Conflict is automatically suspended when one participant is dead or incapacitated. Admins that care about the time that’s passed after the last attack log when it comes to escalation really lack basic commonsense.

Oh that guy just cut off your head? Just sliced you to a pulp with a fireaxe? Sorry gamer it’s been 20 minutes just get over it, the conflict has ended let us go forth in peace. How about no, how about if someone axed you to DEATH you wouldn’t just magically mysteriously forget about that once revived. No hard feelings buddy ! The conflict ended :)

The conflict ends when the invisible scales of justice have been tipped to become equal on both sides, it could take 60 minutes but as long as the scale is imbalanced you have perfectly rational motive to retaliate. Not sure if this applies at all to this ban just wanted to soapbox sorry.

Fair, Vex did almost kill Leia after critting her and it opened himself up to retaliation after death, though it's really up to the headmins to consider whether the conflict was de-escalated peacefully after the second fight (where both fought in underpass without either being sent to crit) or still ongoing.

as you can see, they gave a retort back and was told "They hurt." (they're literally healing bees? lol?) and beyond that they were told nothing else.
From the looks of the logs, both sides basically didn't bother to talk it out at all. They just refused to consider that MAYBE they should talk it out.
