the tactic of having so many people break a rule that it can't be enforced might have worked in another setting but this is a phpBB forum and the rule is don't make or encourage chains of entirely contentless and entirely off topic posts which is pretty reasonable for a forum

The enforcement of this no counting rule seems rather arbitrary. The people who start it don't get a warning but the ones that join several posts later do?

I don't really want to retroactively go back too far before it really took off, I just want to lop as many heads off of the hydra now that it's plainly clear not to. I can understand people getting swept up in a trend but there's a certain point of fair warning. That's how I see it

Okay but it still doesn't explain why it wouldn't be smarter to go for the people starting it. Like- I'm not complaining. As I said, I went into it with the intention of the warning because it seemed like a funny thing to do. But by the time I jumped in we were up to 11. Wouldn't it make more sense to go for the people at the beginning, because if they hadn't, would I have? Probably not. It just seems Weird to me, and I would like to understand.

I guess it comes down to whether March 24th was enough of a crackdown to include conrad. I dunno, maybe you're right and conrad should be blammed in this thread, but if I'm unsure I'd rather just spare and enforce onward
starting a chain now would definitely get cracked down on but at this point like, including moderator messages informed everyone. if you're starting it, or continuing it, you know, so no need to retroactively blam people
