He's probably never going to get unbanned ever again on any server due to that ban for doxxing, lol.

The problem is they have too strong of a grip on the wrong things.

Some people need to release their grip, pull up their pants and go hug a tree.

Grip too strong, smushed both ways like a Twinkie.

I'm mad that I bothered to do all that log diving just to go check his Centcom record, see that Bee ban and go FUCKING YIKES.

Could've saved me the trouble of proving that he was lying. Oh well, always good practice to check logs.

For the record, I wouldn't balk at letting someone back who'd threatened to doxx if it was like... a year ago and they acknowledged/apologized for it, but this was in April and he didn't even mention it.

I doubt he expected you to care about a totally unrelated server.

I can't tell if this is a dig or not, but your behavior elsewhere informs how you're going to behave here. If you were banned from here for something then banned elsewhere for the same thing, why should I think you intend to not do the thing I banned you for again?

The question isn't whether you think it relevant, it's whether he expects you to think it relevant. Not giving you that information himself could just be the result of him not realising you wanted it.

Yeah I agree, it's perfectly reasonable for you to use major information from other servers, but I don't think you could be mad at an average player not thinking you would do so.

The ban appeal template wrote: "Anything else we should know: If you have anything else you feel is relevant to your appeal, include it here. For example, if you have recently been banned from another server, or have had issues in other communities, it may be a preferable to be transparent and address that here, rather than them being brought up during the appeal process. If this section does not apply to you, feel free to remove it."
but imo, the "ask them leading questions" kinda method is nicer, I don't assume everyone reads the ban appeal template's stuff they probably just wing it

Maybe, but whether or not he told me about it wasn't really factored into my decision. If he had apologized I might've considered it a bit longer, but the more I've sat on it, the more I think I definitely made the right choice here. Three months isn't long enough for me to shrug at someone doing something like threatening to dox somebody.

It's easy to lose your cool on video games. I've done so several times, albeit those times were when i was off of prescription medications. I thinking telling someone to just "go outside" is kinda bad. Hell for someone like myself I can't "just go outside" since I live in a pretty dangerous area, not to mention my demographic.

Yeah for sure things happen and different factors be present to make people lose their cool and it all sucks, I'm not minimizing that.

BUT:

There are just some people walking around in a constant haze ready to explode. Its a very dangerous mindset to be in, especially when whatever filter was present becomes nonexistent.

If someone is getting mad enough, routinely enough, to create a trend of behavior including joking about (or not who knows) shooting up a school, threatening to dox people, and sending others death threats... that's a serious problem -- taking a break from the Internet is part of the solution.

If they are having 'trouble remembering their outbursts' and therefore lack the shame to drive them to not repeat these things on top of it all, that's pretty worrisome.

I've had to exclude more than a few people from in person social groups and spaces for exactly this sort of behavior, for the betterment of themselves and everyone else around them.

Oh. I mean all of the social spaces and events that I involve myself in and run are all very friendly and considerate places meant to be open to anyone that is willing to be respectful of others. If someone is causing problems, doing illegal things, insulting people, etc. while in these spaces its already an issue that I'll unfortunately need to address with them privately.

Even someone repeatedly getting into heated arguments that make others not want to partake in things and avoid showing up because of said person would be a decent enough example.

I think that has merit to it. I imagine it’s nice to be able to go somewhere you know you’ll have fairly pleasant interactions 100% of the time.

In my experience, things can often feel stifled and inauthentic if all forms of conflict become socially taboo. I’d much rather people call me out and voice their true feelings rather than suppress it and have it leak out through passive aggressiveness or gossip. An initial investment of discomfort to sort through the conflict can often clear the air and create a genuine bond between people.
