Great title, squandered on a boring appeal

No meltdowns or lying about their conduct on voucher servers. LAME.

depends on your definition of lying I suppose
I've played some hours on an assortment of servers without issues.
<screenshot implying 170 hours of TGMC gameplay>
TGMC isn't exactly "roleplay heavy", plus you've only played five rounds there since you were banned, so it's not really relevant.
but there's really not much meat here

for the record the 170 hours is in beestation’s “roleplay” server

Honestly I think TGMC history should be taken more seriously in ban appeals. While not the greatest shining example of roleplay in the SS13-sphere, having played on it for a while, it basically just feels like Sybil felt. Just like Sybil the scale of roleplay between NRP and MRP (which TGMC advertises itself as) isn't lopsided in either direction. You get people who treat it like an NRP deathmatch and others who engage in some fine moment to moment roleplay leveraging the wacky world around them. You don't have exclusively one or the other defining the server.

There's nothing wrong with either approach so long as you aren't a dickhead. It really is just Sybil but with uniforms, assault rifles, and a team of valids to shoot at. People even still bitch in dead chat about how bald the medical players are.

That said...

It would have been more relevant if they'd played more than 5 rounds. I do recall seeing them show up a couple times in game and was hopeful to see them become a regular to leverage TGMC for a vouch in their ban appeal.

although i suppose they just liked bee more

I would, had he have played more than five rounds in the last four months. The only reason TGMC stuff might not be wholly relevant is because Reider's entire ban hinges on his refusal to roleplay and TGMC is more focused on gameplay than roleplay, but had he had something like 30-40 rounds on it, I would factor that in.

Literally the only reason I mentioned it is because he posted his TGMC history without the context that he hadn't played more than a few hours there since he was banned here.

Right, but I'm waiting on Bee to tell me how many of those were accrued since he was banned here. He also started playing on Bee in 2019, so at least some of that time won't be relevant to the appeal.

I'm not president of the Reider Mesa fanclub, but here's the thing with second chances:

You usually get only one of those. In the words of Timber, coming out of your first perma is very easy. Coming out of your second one is a fucking challenge.

I think that if Reider pondered and truly understood what he was doing wrong then by all means he should be allowed back. As recent permas and their appeals have attested, you either become a non-issue, or get shitcanned in a very short time.

ye. i like our mentality on second chances. to some players it's the reality check that they needed. we don't want to ban you, but if you're ruining the game with your presence then out of a duty of care to your fellow players we will eventually have no choice because you didn't learn from the other times. it's never fun when it happens. but it's always nice to see players take that seriously and really try to change, i have 0 issue with giving players like that another shot.

I mean at the time of his ban a good portion of the community said he was on the process of changing, it just didn't happen fast enough. So it wouldn't surprise me that he did indeed change in the 4 month time span

There was maybe 2-3 people who said that they were changing. A LARGE chunk of Sybil's playerbase was very happy to see him gone.

E: Mind you, I don't ban people based on the opinion of players (hence why Sinful is still here) but to say that a "good portion of the community" thought he'd changed to a significant degree isn't true.

the people who would metagrudge him in game or who in general were absolute shitters, get dunked by him, and then scream and rage in deadchat and OOC, were very happy to see him gone.

a lot of us enjoyed having him around.

I can understand and respect that, and if I get good news back from Bee, he might be around again. I just need to make sure he's not going to repeat the same stuff he did before.

the "it only happened to reider because it was a metagrudge!!!" conspiracy theory was debunked ages ago when reider started random naming multiple rounds and still ended up getting lynched/rioted against super quickly because his playstyle did not change one bit.

i don't like him and i can't say he was ever a positive to my shift, but second chances are nice, so why not.

also the thread title is good

The whole "Reider is changing, he's really better" struck me like when you're climbing a very steep hill and you swear you're putting one foot after the other but in reality you're not moving at all. From people who had interactions out of game with him and saw a different person than he was in game.

In other words, one step back, two steps forward, noted three times. If the ban is lifted I'm really curious if getting perma'd was the shake he needed to understand what drove the ban to happen.

It'll be sad for the second chances gang (number 1 fan 🤚) if he just gets obliterated like Somah did.

What a nice heartwarming appeal with a lace bow on top. Let's hope if Maskenary gets burned out again he takes a break rather than break kneecaps.
