I told my employer to get lost and they did

I've been off work for the last 4 days with a nasty cold.
I emailed my work, they said they need a sick note from a gp* to pay me
I check my gps website, they refuse to sign any sick note of less than 7 days
I ask if my employer is happy to pay for a private gp
Nah they don't need a sick note anymore
I take an extra sick day out of spite
*GP = primary care practioner in America

Americans don't have worker rights. That would be communism.

There are other countries in the world besides America. Wine's not in America, unless that's a recent development.

I misread their GP* as meaning they were American.
According to gov.uk a dick note is only needed if you are taking 7+ days off

In the UK no, Sick pay is shockingly bad.
The rule is: If you're off sick for 7 days or less you don't need a sick note, and your employer owes you SSP, which is £109.40 PER WEEK, (This is basically nothing). In the UK, most employers (in my experience) pay full time pay for a couple of weeks of sick days per year

Why do people think that asking for proof of sickness past a few days is some kind of crazy requirement?

well the point is they wanted a sick note for a short period, one so short that GPs won't actually offer them. Kinda a textbook unreasonable demand.

Yeah that's true.
