What I find strange is appealing each time. I get that appeals are free but wtf lol

I've been doing this admin thing for almost a year and it still baffles me.

If you're going to appeal a Perma a month later, you REALLY need to put a lot of effort into it, and even then you're probably still going to get rejected.

i agree. a lot of admins are just gonna disengage with low effort appeals but the right to have a productive conversation is there if you want it and put the effort in, and people shouldn't be discouraged from making an appeal if they're entitled to it (not saying that anyone here is doing this!)

this person did get banned for doing something really dumb though. repeatedly.

Appeals do not have to be giant 10-headed centipedes. They are a chance for the player to present their case and request a review of the ban. Whether that review leads to a lighter punishment is up to the handling Admin and, ultimately, the Head Admins, but it's still a right.

A longer appeal does not equate to higher chances of getting your punishment lifted; it only leads to the Admin being sick of you at some point (and also leads me to not read it as a non-handling Admin lol).

Just like higher freedom leads to bigger responsibilities, appeals can also be weaponized against the handling Admin, in which scenarios it is overall advised to not put too much energy into them. The truth is that we all just wanna play our silly spessman game, and the admins are trusted with the tools to yeet out those who are unhealthy for the environment. Appeals are a system that allows players to get a fairer experience where admins may analyze their case in more detail with more time, and act accordingly.

If I'm gonna peanut anything at all about this ban, I'd just say the dude did the right thing in appealing if he believed his ban should have been only a month long. The dude's not an admin, he doesn't know or even have to know how we usually enforce the rules and what punishments we find appropriate.

I'm all for harsh crackdowns on breaches of rule 8. That doesn't mean it won't come out of left field for some people who frequent social circles where being overtly sexual is commonplace.
That said, considering he'd gotten a 7 day ban (huge) for this before, he really should've gotten the memo... no smut in my spess.

I would appreciate if the head admins would put as much effort into their response as this person did the appeal itself. I think it's pretty clear they're just hoping a headmin throws them a bone.
