Mononyms: based or cringe

I observe a lot of manuel, so I see a lot of really WACK names. I was wondering what the general sentiment on players using mononyms is. I'm talking like, moth static named "Starseeker" or uh... uhm... lizard static named Xemo I guess.

Personally it doesn't really bother me but I understand why people think it's snowflakey. It's currently not addressed under naming policy as far as I'm aware(?).

I'm making this in the players club bc I do not want this to be taken seriously like an actual policy thread, I just want to read what people have to say.

Mononyms on non-humans : based
Mononyms on humans (and felinids because they're humans the AI can bully) : cringe

I am objectively correct and will accept no arguments on this matter

Admins may get involved if your name is dumb and can approve or disallow names at their discretion.

PURPLE NAME DETECTED IN PLAYER’S CLUB.

OPINION DISCARDED.

(It’s true, though, mononyms are fine by me too.)

naming policy.................................................................

snowflakey is in behaviour imo as a flbh felinid with a corny name i understand the power you must always be self aware of and how easy it is to get into an entitled mindset because you're easy to recognize than say John Bunkly the cia hair human. i like when ppl have their own thoughts about alien cultures and welcome unconventional naming schemes as long as it not actually genuinely insane

I don't personally like mononyms. I don't think they should be like, banned or anything, but I don't like them. They don't feel "namey" to me.

i'm fine with them naming conventions don't matter to most people and shouldn't matter unless its like egregious or rulebreaking

i will say though all the lamp or moff joke names for moths i don't like the horse is paste it has been beaten into the ground

The wiki page on moths actually advises using moth puns for your name same as the lizards; verbs-the-noun

Last I checked naming policy clearly states humans need a first and last name. There was a bunch of grumbling about if some people should be grandfathered in and the answer was no.

I know the lamp jokes are old but honestly I still like them.

Wasn't there a trend of moths having car names ages ago or was that a fever dream I had?

It sadly never took flight like it should have, but Honda, Toyota & Suzuki are names which you may see on Terry. Subaru's been in a couple of rounds as well.

I think they're boring and uninspired. I know a few servers ban moth names with lamp in them and I'm not against it

Wait, is THAT why Honda Mothra is called that?

Edit: Also mononyms should stay allowed for moths but admins should be more proactive about bapping overly stupid ones.
