i think it tracks the last one who touched it as the one to prime it (correct me if im wrong) and pulsing it with a multitool or similar doesnt count as touching it?

Yup! It credits the wrong person for triggering it, which is a bug. https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/issues/82623

works like this with TTVs too. last one to touch is the one to trigger it. (i think)

This is why you need shadowplay while playing ss13. Logs are great but man do people just take them at face value without thinking much about it.

After seeing the appellant post logs that worked against them and taking responsibility for making the grenades at all, I had an inkling that something was off about the logs. Not to mention our bombing logs have a history of being a little wonky in places.
Honestly, props to the player for being so mature about the whole thing, and to Fatal for giving them the benefit of the doubt after we determined that the logs weren't totally reliable.

This is the first time in my 5 years of being an admin the logs I've used have been wrong, and this is what appeals are for, the whole thing was sorted very quickly

Replays would be nice but yeah, we don't have those

For anyone wondering if something like this can be detected in-round before the (multiple) bugs that made this invisible on logs are fixed, the admin Secrets tool "list signalers" logs all signal pulses and their sender in a round, though like most Investigate tools I don't believe it's added to the stored game logs. There's a surprising amount of tracking data/lists/etc that's not available to admins beyond the round they happen in, because they arent worth storing in 99.9% of rounds.

Turns out, yes, but most people wouldn't look into that the first time

A good thread to demonstrate the issue of signal pulsing and logs.

Thankfully, hrefs is a pretty good way to check some of these things.
