Disk Implantation is Powergaming?

According to Cheridan it is. Of note: It was a war ops round. He was an op. And he says it's a "bug" because there's explicit checks for it. Sure, players read the code to see if there are checks for something so they know not to do it.

Considering dismemberment AND a surgery table is a part of the syndicate ship, I don't really see the dealio here.

exactly. my theory is that he's salty about losing and is now making up rules which is not appropriate conduct for an admin

It used to be a not ok thing to do [well it wouldn't even allow you to do so], I don't want you to think he's pulling it out of his rear.

In regards to the thread.

Wasn't it a long standing meme/tradition to implant the clown with the disk and making them run like an oiled pig?

It's a bit excessive in my opinion. Booby trapping the disk is fine, but implantation is a pain in the ass to deal with and not all that clever

How is it hard?

with eswords being able to chop out organs + the disk it isn't even hard for the ops to get it out, the rule is outdated if its even a rule, which im pretty sure it isn't

If you take the time to do all that, the crew deserves to win.

And uncoordinated ops lose most of the time anyway

It *is* a bug I'm pretty sure, but its a solution to an outdated problem now that you can hack things out of people's chest cavities instead of it being stuck there 5ever

1. Take saw on the nuke op ship

2. saw the chest repeatedly

3. take disk that pours out of chest

done!

Put the disk into a loaf of bread and then implant it. Syndies are allergic to gluten.

If cheridan was involved as both an admin and player in an adminhelp the appropriate actions will be taken. We don't let admins handle their own ahelps at all.

he wasnt handling his own adminhelp, just mentioned in OOC that this was a bug + against the rules which is why I made this thread to clarify.

By that I mean we don't let admins handle an issue that they were also involved in as a player. I took your posts to mean cheridan was a nuke op and later messaged you about nuke disk implanting.

Pretty sure that this is a bug though, this is explicitly disallowed by code iirc but is still functional for some reason

It was disallowed.
The disallowing code was broken.
Kor used "but it never worked" as his reason to remove the disallowing code.
Thus it's """allowed"""

Is the thing that's bugged even needed any more though, given that dismemberment makes it moot?

1. implanting the disk makes it hard to retrieve
2. code is added to make it impossible to implant the disk, in order to solve 1.
3. dismemberment makes implanted disks easy to retrieve
4. for some reason 2 breaks
5. Because of 4, the fix for 1, 2, is bugged even though 3 makes 1 no longer an issue.

There was a similar thing in polaris code. Hyperzine was hilariously OP and in response a PR was put in to make it toxic. People started just cutting it with antitoxin and it was still OP, so a later PR just made the movement boost less ridiculous, and now arguably there's no need for it to be toxic any more. And so the eternal cycle of nerf and buff continues.

If the syndies have a surgery table then how could it possibly be powergaming? Also: people rarely have enough time to get it implanted before the ops show up. AND iirc, somewhere on the wiki it even mentions the disk implantation strat.

If you ask me, real powergaming is doing the cheesewheel thing, putting it inside a ton of boxes, or under a huge stack of shit to right-click.

It's not an appeal to authority, I am the authority and I'm saying it's a bug

Ic issue tbh

with dismemebement its not even a challenge and if your too dumb to bang the rocks together then you deserve it tbh.

If you want a repercussion there are all sorts of nasty problems alien objects cause in the human body. Just run a google search and implement a horrible medical condition.

Reminder that the "separation of code and server is absolute" meme runs both ways.

If your name is not cheridan stop posting.
Wish the headmemes were as quick locking "he said she said" threads like these as they are locking the regular "server culture is in the shitter do something about it" threads.
