Shouldn't this be in coding feedback then?
I'm a fan of rainbows.
It makes detective work a little cooler?

This config originally existed as some kind of misguided attempt to cut down on greyshittery by giving assistants some semblance of identity at roundstart to set them apart from other assistants. It has been disabled for some time, what prompted it being reenabled?

The codebase has no control over how configs are set, it's an admin policy question

I know work is an alien concept to grey tide, but getting new jumpsuit from locker room is pretty easy.

mso disabled it alongside cat ears last week but nobody's brave enough to smack that mf meteor button in the name of the gray

I like it personally, it makes it easier to spot assholes. It is easier to scream, about the asshole in the red jumpsuit assaulting people than one of many assholes in grey jumpsuits.

If you want to wear grey there are entire lockers filled with the grey jumpsuit, personally this config makes spotting individual shitters easier.

Part of the assistant role is anonymity, I feel like this removes that anonymity which I don't like. The grey jumpsuit makes you feel like one of a hundred, disposable.

As I said before, it is easier to point out which people are assholes if they arent all wearing the same getup. usually people are identified by name and then their job, for assistants that didnt work because there were so fucking god damn many of them.

Now you can identify a criminal assistant by the color of jumpsuit they wear, which means they actually have to use half a brain and maybe change clothing occasionally to not get caught instead of hiding behind the anonymity of 20 other jackoffs wearing the same uniform as you.
kevinz000 wrote:>assistants stop banding together because their uniform colors aren't grey

Uniforms have been used to foster solidarity forever, take away the uniform and you take away one tool that people use to recognize each other as allies.

Sociology is funny sometimes.

I think making assistants multicoloured and not all grey detracts from the culture a bit. Everytime I see an edit of a picture or art of an assistant with a grey jumpsuit, yellow gloves, a toolbelt, and a gas mask it cracks me up. Doesn't really work if they're all different colours. Might seem silly but it just seems like one of those things that's embedded in the game at this point IMO. Especially considering they can grab a grey jumpsuit from dorms anyways.

no
it actually does nothing and boils down to aesthetic preferences
technically yeah it does make detective work very slightly easier though assuming an assistant was behind a crime and never changed his jumpsuit and got fibers on the crime scene in the first place and there are no other assistants wearing the same jumpsuit color

It makes reporting crime easier in general when you didn't see the name. Especially with a lot of tides that looking almost exactly the same.

I've played a relative shitton since they made the change compared to how much I normally play, haven't had one person report a crime using the jumpsuits colour.

theres no point to reporting a crime by jumpsuit color if you can just scroll up and read attack logs

It has helped me identify a greytiding asshole who stole my RCD when I was an engineer once. Looking for the asshole in the red jumpsuit is easier than looking for one of many assholes in grey jumpsuits.

Just because you havent personally used it, doesnt mean it isnt useful.

You could just remove the thing (colored jumpsuits) code-side.

IIRC it was done in the past to bypass config options, the fact that it's not being done now means that coders approve of this change.

Oddly enough i added it as a config after a coder (paprika) tried to shoehorn the change in as a unconfigable thing.

Bagil has it to balance out the pops and help security as well as cut down on grey tide. sybil and terry are still grey tide.

In general I'll always be looking for ways to tweak the config to help balance out populations.

People seemed to shift more and more to bagil after catgrills were removed from sybil.
