IPC Naming Policy

Since IPC are due to be merged some time soon, and may become a roundstart race if the headmins assent, it would probably help to have a naming policy in mind.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

awfully bold of you to assume that Statbus would allow another roundstart race to be added.

Also IPC names must be a robot or android pun. Ez pz.

Cyborgs have a policy, it's just that that policy is that they're allowed to be more lax with their names a la Clown/Mime, but still can't infringe on rule 8/be stupidly spammy, etc.

my thought and suggestion is to tell us what IPCs are

aren't IPCS just those round start augments with a TV for a head. Give them TV names, like Panasonic Pana Sonic. Or maybe tv channel names and subscription service names?

I think there's a rule that a new roundstart race can only be added in place of another roundstart race. So one of the other races will have to go

Humans, Lizards, Catgirls. If humans go and get replaced with IPCs? I wonder what station life would be like. The majority of our community would leave if the other 2 got removed and replaced. For better or for worse is what the people decide.

"IPC Naming Schemes
IPCs, given their inorganic nature, are known to adopt a variety on monikers with no particular adherence to a conventional naming scheme. Despite the lack of a culturual or inborn naming scheme, many IPCs choose to adopt names based upon their model number (OSI - 524, for instance) or make use of an acronym (like A.L.P.H.A.). IPCs created and educated in the presence of organics will often adopt the conventions of the particular species they're most familiar with."

Basically

Anything you would use as AI/borg name can be used for IPC name.

IPCs in their current state aren't being merged.

I'm fond of the idea of them trying so hard to pretend to be human they only use the absolute most generic human names and are forced to random with a limited pool of like Mike, Greg, Smith, Jackson, Bob, Bill, Dan.
That's it you, just have a ton of IPCs walking around name Dan Smith, Bill Greg, Greg Jackson, Mike Dan. Even better if they weren't allowed last names to distinguish them over comms from normal crew and give credence to first and last names for humans.

I like this, almost like synthetics from Aliens or something similar

I could see extending their names to human names AND silicon names due to the nature of their existence. Some might think they're human while others might know they're borgs.

How about (Family Name) (Given Name) but the family name is the manufacturer that build it. So you end up with I.B.M. Bill, DonkSoft Tom, and Nanotrasen Ostrava. Well maybe not the last one.

Rip IPCs your first mistake was not porting paradises IPC special abductor abduction. Your second mistake was not reminding the oracle coder of IPCS that they existed.
