Admin permissions

Why do GameAdmins not have permissions in:

- Discord
- Forums

If we trust a person with game permissions why not let them handle forum and discord thingies?
Presumably it'll be less work for the headmins as they wont need to appoint or regulate forum-admins or discordmins....

Not everyone signs up for discord jannie or forum jannie, tying those permissions to GAs means that people will expect you to use those permissions and moderate those spaces, is how I think of it.

Why do you think a legion of TG admins made into discord jannies will be a net positive besides what you've already said? In my opinion if you had 100+ discord jannies you'd run into many many issues over how rules will be enforced.

Did gameadmins lose server kick permissions or something? I always thought that was sensible.

Community moderation is very different to game moderation due to its persistent nature.

Discord has its own onboarding with bots, guides and different ways of working.

Forum moderation is the same. GMs have forum mod permissions because they're expected to know the various ways of working as former headmins.

This is why we have pingable roles on Discord for forum (GM/Arm/Pkp/Headmin roles) and Discord (DJ role) matters that are important enough to be high priority.

Also I'd rather not have to consider whether someone will be a good Discord mod or good forum mod when looking for new candidates.

Double post but the fact we have a selection process for DJs and that MSO/Pkp manages forum mods should also tell you that there is a filter beyond which some admins do not pass for compatibility.

This post right here has a lot of value in an environment where there isn't a common mission, value system, goal, or norm.

DJ and Forum administration is both a large extra workload and something we do not believe would be best served by the sudden introduction of 100+ extra admins on, having a smaller specialised team works best for those roles.

Spook: As above
Rave: Agree with above
San: Agree with above
