Way of the Ninja! Ninja clans

Greetings ninja disciple-san, this suggestion idea seeks to amend the current strong and individual ninjas into a number of specialised clans as to make ninjas less a antagonistic class of their own and more of a more rounded antagonist with relative weaknesses & strengths.

SPIDER CLAN

- Entrap their foes in electric nets! Like the orb web spider, they capture their prey as such to also capture the ID of the carrier before administering a sleeping pen to pacify them. Killing your foes is dishonorable.

- Have varied close quarters weapons, which some also have a poison coated sheath dealing additional posion damage every time they strike
- They cannot use ranged weapons, with a similar vulnerability to sleeping carp (inferior chinese kung fu fakery)

COBRA CLAN
- HISS! these reptilian themed ninjas strike fast like adders delivering quick payloads using normal ninja gear, and a special blowgun long range weapon that shoots poison darts in which they have a large supply of.

- Cobra's are expert gymnasts and can crawl in vents of all descriptions and slip between slightly ajar doors, and have a 25% chance to dodge projectiles of all kinds.

- Because of their agility & versatility, cobras are equipped in much lighter armor than their counterparts, meaning they are more vunerable to close quarters damage and not least to weapons they lose

HEAVENLY MANTRA CLAN

- This clan operates via divine semi mystical powers and shuns non essential technology, though many speculate whether this is just clever application of tools

- These ninjas beside from very primitive weapons such as bo staffs, some small knives etc have access to the KNOCK, timestop and a ability to confuse opponents in their radius, working as a more pacifistic class.

- These Ninja's cannot cloak for short periods of time, and instead have a holographic projection which after time they can swap places with which is useful for jumping from place to place.
Now with these changes in mind the actual fundamental mode of base ninjas changes, and now ninjas are less well equipped have more ceremonial/basic weapons such as standard short metal katanas and small box of three pointed shirukens (deal less damage & smaller embed chance) and a basic sup-par ninja would have much less chance of success of completing a mission (relating to your end round KAPPA SUPER GAIDEN STATUS), a special ninja game-mode would task a group of ninjas with shared honor points between them in taking a daring mission.

HONOR & DISHONOR

- All ninjas are measured via a honor system, a ninja that falls into disgrace from committing dishonorable acts (which the admins get some say in edge cases additional point allocatement) such as murderboning station members and every fifteen minutes they are on station, will automatically be disqualified from claiming greentext as to keep up the heat. Having good honour has perks other than contributing to your top score since you buy your equipment with honor points after you select your speciality, a fully equipped ninja squad is expected to make short work of a station quickly infiltrating it, as opposed to a ninja laid bare with no points who has BUCKETS of honor.

- As previously mentioned, ninja equipment such as your cloaking device is available to be bought with honor, though a real super kappa ninja gaiden requires no such technical trickery and can operate using lucky coins, wit & sneaking in places before flushing yourself down disposals undetected in a master plan.

A beneficial admin or ninja can commit honorable acts and actually claim back more honor to treasure or to spend.

Any honour points generated are split evenly between all ninja, to preserve conservation of ninjutsu.

I actually really like this idea, here's my edition to add

TURTLE CLAN

-EEEE! the turtle clan uses a giant hulking suit of armor that ignores anything that is less than or equal to 20 damage! The suit can force open doors and, with enough time, smash through walls! OH YEAH!

- Their main weapon is replaced with a heavy club! Does less damage but works like the baseball bat!

- The suit is acid resistant and is not affected by most stuns!

-Can activate turtle mode which moves all limbs inside the main piece of armor, and then either teleporting (limited to x uses) or spewing flames in an AOE before waking up (limited to x uses)

- Of course, all of this tech and gear makes the turtle very slow and is vulnerable to EMPs, which will disable all defenses for 10 seconds but keep the slowdown

Gains honor by taking/deflecting damage, loses armor by attacking someone who has not hurt him first

EAGLE CLAN

-CAW! Eagle clan praises the skies, and has a modified flightsuit to embrace it.

-The flightsuit has togglable talons. When talons are activated, smashing into someone grabs them and they must spend 20 seconds resisting to escape the grab, they can resist while moving as well.

-Has a bluespace capsule that will spawn a nest structure with stone gargoyles, the eagle will passively heal small amounts while inside the nest area.

-No ranged weapons, and the sword is replaced by e-claws, that deal low damage but have very VERY low attack cooldown allowing for massive damage if the target is stationary.

-Has 6 minutes to place the nest, and the nest must be fed often enough or the gargoyles around the nest will come alive and hunt you down.

Gains honor for killing in the nest.

Loses honor for doing anything while not in the air.

I don't like any of the gamemode changes you suggested, though. It just makes them nuke ops but hellish to balance, and constantly having a time limit is not fun at all. Honor should be something you can get for leaderboards at the dojo, new starting place of the ninjas. That would make honor something point nerds would like to strive for like in mark of the ninja DEMONFIREN SUX AT IT but not nessessary

(Welp, since i was playing yakuza 0 for a bit might as well)
Yakuza clan (yakuza is no different from ninjas right :^))
>starts off with armored , fire proof, space proof suit and no-slips
>fights with a plasma-fist style martial art in which lets him do simple combos quickly (harm, harm,harm, disarm)
>grabbing people and clicking on some items may do a heat special move
>to indicate that the ninja has heat, the ninja is seen to be on fire
>a heat mode that builds when you hit people and do successful combos. Heat mode lets you do more devastating combos
>the main thing is that anytime someone punches or shoots you a 5x5 un-enterable ring is spawned(if shot, the shooter will be teleported in) and the only way out is when either the ninja is dead or the others are either in crit or knocked out (maybe after 3 minutes also)
>the ninja can not initiate the fight, so no throwing, no punching, no shooting. (Fight mode is free game tho)
>anyone near you will want to punch you
>the initiating hit/shot/thrown item is a 100% miss
>eating food and drinking meds will heal you quick (some meds may up your health bar)
>you can buy guns and weapons like pistols, baseball bat, ect with honor points
>punching people will spawn credits under them

Yes. That is fair in a Ninja gamemode not too dissimilar to nuke ops with a group of under-armed ninja's picking specialities or going in all as one simultaneous team.

The rest of the clan ideas are good with a little tweaking, as the gear ought to be enough to not be over the top and mainly either minimalistic or stealthy in some context

Turtle clan: I can see use in a abalative like shellsuit, perhaps instead of a club they could have a two handed Jaws of life like tool for actively yanking open doors with might. Protecting others is a noble act, so the turtle should be able to deploy force fields to stop or stall the enemies attacking them. To help them be more sneaky with infiltration.

Yakuza clan: Though its obviously the most memey clan, but plainsclothes modern ninjas do have a place, though part of me really like the 5x5 arena idea its not exactly stealthy, use of cheap weapons like baseball bats would sound useful, perhaps the Yakuza being the most up to date technologically would have access to EMAG's and such technology for getting around (expensive because using a emag is cheating at ninjitsu so costs a lot)

Eagle clan Screeching Parrot Clan: Gargoyles, what? I like the idea of a outside operations clan more like recon, so instead of jetpacks they could have internaless wingsuits and fly through space without internals (besides those to breathe). Dropping a 'nest' to snipe super long range targets with darts like a cobra specialist, as well as divebomb through windows (breaking it instantly and cutting through the grille) using the talon claws like you describe to pluck objects (select object to divebomb & grab), as tutored by their parrotman sensei Poly-sama.

Would make a good opener for other ninjas to land in a shock operations . Out of the four members on the Ninja ops team, the yakuza clan could be plainsclothes (after emagging into maint, taking off the jetpack and adopting stealthsuit chameleons) to survey & mark a spot, the Heavenly Mantra ninja uses a one use teleport spell scroll, the eagle bursts in noisily through the window and the turtle clan member following the eagle seals up the window so its not noticable and they proceed to move in the direction of the target as quickly as possible.

Read the suggestion, the equipment is downgraded (worse ninja stars, no full strength emag katanas) and you literally lose equivilent (TC) honor points for killing people, murderbone make you poorer and automatically redtext. All of the given equipment can be used offensively but are actually used to suppress and knock out opponents rather than kill them outright.

- A lose condition can be losing so much honor that you individually or your team are actually banished from the ninja clan and not welcome to return, besides losing a chance of claiming greentext. Mission aborted. If not datum antags the explosive implant automatically triggers and the round ends.

Stop judging everything people make before reading the proposed changes they want to make about it, we've had discussions like this where i've had to try and relay my points multiple times where i try and actually severely nerf to rebalance already broken things but get accused of doing exactly the opposite. What about it would you say about the changes is 'murderboney' if you don't reply i'll assume you didnt take the time to read the content.

Do we even still have Space Ninjas? I never see them, figuratively, not literally.

Honestly, Space Ninjas are the only role in the entire game that seems designed with the idea that the player hold themselves to a high role play standard, yet they have no in game restrictions on their behaviour.

Space Ninjas would work if they were white listed, or if people who abused them were punished.

I mean this change firstly makes ninjas less of a nuke operative, hence the murderboning reduces. (space ninjas were removed i think outside button pressing, this is a good way to get them back in and even tack on a high-pop game-mode of co-operative ninja) High role play standard supports the honor system as watching admins can praise/punish roleplay and actions for non-hardcoded honor points and restrictions such as 'no killing' 'stay on task of the objective or lose honor points' keep then ninja motivated.

White listing to have a certain number of hours in the game before you can play would be optimal because of the high skill level required in a ninja to operate in a certain stealthy way.

Oroshi Clan

Following the power of the destructive mountain wind, the oroshi clan runs fast with a chainsaw. For maximum stealth and to hide the sound of their motors, they constantly scream. They wear bright yellow jumpsuits, because no one expects a ninja to wear yellow.

Forced detonation of their explosive implant ought to convince them otherwise when they dip into a threshold of negative honor unless they manage to stablise their yin-yang, and admins can just punish ninjas more harshly if needed IC rather than waste time writing out a note ("was being shit even though this game mode does not permit or encourage the behaviour of murderboners, bad ninja") the honor clock will continually tick down so even hiding out after a murderbone spree. Get in and get out with objective for the win.

If people are REALLY commited to being murder-boners, then we can't stop them but we can say that they tried and that we even changed a quite broken antagonist with revamped new non-harmful features and second to last resort weapons to do it.

- Other members of your ninja squad dying also induces honor penalties during a joint ninja round, and as such negative net honor explodes the ENTIRE squad for station minor victory so there is a way to destroy a ninja squad either through RP capture, and eliminating heavily armed ninja squads (burst all their honor points) early into the round.

Actually, my idea is the anti-murder bone. If no one wants to be a valid hunter, the yakuza ninja would kill zero people

Nah MrEous, that kinda verges too far on the line of total BS for the sake of a meme rather than the themed ninja's we have (spellcast ninja, shield ninja, flying ninja, trapping ninja, and dart ninja so far for very simplified expressions of gameplay style)

A ninja with modern traitor objects, or expensive modifications to said objects would suffice. Cyberpunk/Modern ninja i guess. I know what the Yakuza game is and what its trying to reference but while its japanese centric, it doesn't actually feature any ninjas just criminals. Yakuza is basically the Oriental mafia of Japan.
