Make it that every time the grav gen gets turned back on everybody on the station whos not wearing magboots in the 'On' state gets knocked down. You are floating in a space station, it only makes sense you eat floor if gravity gets turned back on.

No it doesn't. You are used to life on a space station and should be able to orient yourself, the laws of momentum still apply to altering your relative position in zero gee environment would be simple enough.

You could hand-wave it by the gravigen emitting a powerful gravimetric burst before correctly calibrating itself, thus exceeding normal human reflexes. A Speeseman would not know when it is coming, unless he watches the gravigen itself.

Why would you not orient yourself into a standing position regardless? The station is built to be operated under gravity, there's no reason why you should be in anything but a standing position when gravity is turned on. It seems a bit silly to make it knock everyone down when they should be used to working under various different artificial and natural gravities.

EDIT: Might make more sense if the gravity expanded ala a wave, so the spessmen would be pulled backwards and diagonally as the plane of gravity undernearth the floor asserts itself?

...Or that.

Some more visual indication that you are floating would be nice too.

Also. Add G forces. Hacking the shuttle to early launch should gib anyone not buckled in and cause fatal heart attacks in people in the red on health.

When moving in zero gee the typical position is to orient the body parallel to direction of motion (to minimize cross-sectional area and therefore collisions, among other reasons). Given that the gravity turn-on is rather sudden, there is no time for proper orientation.

at the very least call throw() on everyone in the shuttle and slam them all into the back wall

Remember when I tried to add directional gravity?

Yeah but you're not gonna be standing on the floor, you'll be floating above it and likely slightly leaned forward like this guy
Spoiler:

Even this guy in the picture who is an actual real life in space astronaut would fall on his face if you turned on gravity out of nowhere

this isn't even "slight"
this is a fucking whatever i can't into depth perception degree angle

An emagged gravity generator should throw everyone and everything not wearing magboots in a random direction.

Make it so it looks at all objects and tiles adjacent to players:

* Attempt to make player headbutt tables and break glass tables.
* Attempt to embed sharp tools and weapons into nearby player.

Yes, everyone should fall flat on their faces when grav is turned on.
Also any loose item should float as well, and get bumped by people passing by them, and as above, if the grav turns back on when you're floating through a cloud of glass shards, you should NOT have a nice time.

Hacked grav gen should turn grav up super high - you can't throw shit very far, gravity crushes you into the floor making it hard to stand/climb shit/ makes you move slowly.

emagged gen should also do damage on knockdown :^)

i'm glad someone else understands how gravity/lack thereof works
