Preferred Roles Character Preference

Post by Cyberboss » #326536

Not to be confused with the current occupation preferences as you know them, this will not affect rolling a job at all.

We have 3 character slots, the idea is you can give each character slot a list of jobs they are qualified for. Once your job is assigned, if you have a character that has that job selected as preferred and your currently selected character doesn't, you will instead spawn as the character that has the preference selected.

e.g. w/o Engrish

1. Set character slot 1 to prefer jobs A, C, and E
2. Set character slot 2 to prefer jobs B, D, and F
3. Select occupation preference as normal
4. Choose character slot 1
5. Game starts
6. You roll job D
7. You are automatically changed to character slot 2 before you spawn
-- OR --
6. You roll job G
7. You spawn as character slot 1

If you have a character you only want to play as an engineer you can set it so if you roll engineer you'll play as them, but if you roll a different job you'll play as a different character.

How so, I dont see how it can be used to metagame.

the roleplaying QoL this would add would be wonderful, it would mean that certain low education jobs, like janitor, wouldnt go to a character that typically plays scientist or medical doctor.

Not anymore than there already is. The only change is that it would be more likely for players to create the metaknowledge in the first place.
I code for the code project and moderate the code sections of the forums.

Feedback is dumb and it doesn't matter
