modular gun code

heres a oxford wet dream

done, all it tok was a little coding https://github.com/JohnOxford/tgstation/pull/1


dubbed: oxgun

a firearm system, modular in every aspect, spanning over 40 different types of weapons with over 500 individual weapons with a matching pair of 400 different attachments.
a master script, covering what it fires, firing, ect, then every new gun model would just be a set of vars to change

its name, how far it shoots, how fast it shoots, what it shoots, how many it shoots


and then make it so indepth, so functional, so useful, that it's then used across all servers. as far as the eye can see, every server will have oxford guncode in it.

maybe even give it a database, so game wikis could select their own guns from that database once they've coded them, then have a prefab wikipedia article made.

maybe even use the database as a tool so that every model of a gun made that fits a certain criteria is added to a list, were it will be constantly expanding so long as the servers keep using it.

edit:

lets say it creates a huge fucking metagame between all servers, that regardless of your servers lore or what its based on, code wise you will always have access to every firearm in ss13.

if your server creates -30 ish unique firearms, and they all meet a certain criteria, you could create a company, the company would be branded on all the firearms and all the firearms would then be accessable to the public

its global firearms man

players dont want modular guns

they dont want customization or variation on anything, they just want strict predefined values

but i want customization

so customization is code only,

the server itself codes what guns its going to have and how those guns are going to function before they put them in the game.

no customization on the players side unless the host of the server (or coders) deem so

Seems like it would fit a lot better in CM or the shitty WW2 server or FO13 than base ss13!

Really though why do people think adding more weapons when literally all of them are just click on guy and shoot bullent or maybe a few bullents at once its byond nigga you can have 1500 different guns but they will all feel nearly identical (most will probably be outright identical) and ss13 is not enough of an esport of minor numerical statistical difference to matter to the average player

because some of us play the game to make a number that we can't see higher than it was orginally so we can click on other people faster to make their life number go down faster
