Pipe sonar

Post by kevinz000 » #359882

so I came up with an insane idea that will probably be hard to code due to how byond handles icons (drawing onto icons multiple times generally causes horrible clientside crashes as I've found when I tried to do free-style drawing with chalk a thing, and it just ended up crashing and no one knew how to bypass/fix it.) , but it's making a sonar device that can map out the pipes of a certain pipe network, and possibly anything ventcrawling in it.

thoughts?
and yes I know this will make trays less useful but this will only give you a minimap of connected pipes to the one you're pulsing, it's not a visual guide for construction purposes as much as t-rays.

What would it be used for, other than tracking monkies/swarmers that get into the vents? (if you can see ventcrawlers)

ventcrawler would probably be strongest use, it's always annoying how tray's ventcrawler showing ability is too slowly updating to do anything.
you can track major pipe breaches/severed pipes with it, as it'd show a dead end.
